i need help connecting gba to animal crossing.

i was able to connect it with the e-reader and scan in my character cards at the post office, but when i went to the ables to scan in my design cards, i connected the it so i could download the design tool needed, but the "connecting" screen just stayed there and never finished connecting. i also need to know exactly how you are supposed to call the kap'n. it says turn on the gba then go stand by the dock. i have the gba connected in the 3 controller port, i turn it on then with the gcn controller i walk over there and he doesn't come. i have a nintendo brand cable btw. can somebody help me please?

ok, thanks joe. i got it to work at the able's now, but i still need help calling the captain over to the dock.

Take the Ereader out of the GBA for the island. Plug in just the GBA with no game and leave the acre and come back and the boat will be at the dock.

But they are SO worth it. Animal Crossing Cards, NES game cards, etc. etc. I feel no regrets spending well over $100 for the E Reader, cards, and Animal Crossing cards so far.
