Anyone get this title? I've never played a Rayman title and I understand this is port, but holy crap was it this bad when it was originally released? IMO the controls are horrible and the graphics are sub par. The touch screen is pointless for this game, I mean, couldn't Nintendo use the bottom as a map or something? Graphics and controls aside i'm just plain not having fun with this game, anyone else have an opinion or can tell me it gets better?

What is the bottom screen used for?

I heard DS Rayman is a bad port. Better to get the DC or PS2 version of Rayman 2...

Cheers,
Ben

Surely Nintendo didn't make or publish this title?!

It is also easily one of the most difficult platformers I have ever seen. (I ought to take another look at it sometime; the fact that the speed throttling was a little broken the first time I tried it did not help matters.)

Got it (silly me, collecting DS games)...and I enjoyed the first starter level, but when the next one came along, that all changed. I was half an hour into it, and I still didn't have a point where I felt I accomplished anything or a point to save, which is a nono for a handheld. Secondly, the touch screen is useless...there's little to zero information on there, which all could have been put on the main screen if they really wanted. The controls were also clumsy, which made the game not very fun after it became a little more challenging. My conclusion: the reports are true, it's a bad port for the DS.

I got a lovely quote from one of the guys I talk to in the local game store.

"You know it's a bad game when we've got 3 copies in the pre-owned section 2 days after the consoles launch date" (Staff Member, GameStation, Bristol, UK)

Had to laugh at that but at least he was being honest (I haven't played it myself though as I don't have a DS)

I really wanted to enjoy this...but I didn't - it is is dark and dreary and has a terrible frame-rate. Oh, and the controls are rubbish...

I was checking this out when it was shipped to us at bestbuy and I had a feeling it would be very subpar. Personally, I hate the 3d control on the DS. I don't like using the stylus or the touch screen in general at all. That's why I only have 7 stars in SMB64. I'm sure the control would frustrate the hell out of me in this title. Oh well, hopefully Castlevania will make it all worth it.

While I found the PSX version fun, I think the older side-scroller had more style.

I was looking forward to this though. Guess I'll hold off now.

I saw this in a shop this weekend and exclaimed "Holy Crap!" with visions of the first NDS game that actually made me want to purchase a system dancing in my head. Then I flipped it over and saw that it was one of the 3D games.

Ah well. I wish Rayman would return to his 2D platforming ways. The Dreamcast game was very good, but I liked the 2D Jaguar version much better.

It's reviewed in the current issue of Nintendo Power and it's summed up as a piece of crap. (my words, not theirs) LOL

Sounds like it's one of those "lets rush it to stores now, while there's nothing for DS owners to buy, so that we can move more units" type of games. Bah! Not a smart move with the PSP here.

Well, I reserved the game at my local Babbage's, like the other 50 games or so I have reserved there. Then the other day in the mall I see that the store isn't there anymore!?
Anyways, I talked to a guy that worked there that I have class with and he said they are relocating in the next couple months. So I really don't know what to do. Am I out the $34.99 I already paid for the game. I paid in full. And I don't have my reserve ticket anymore, so I really don't know what to do?

Any help would be appreciated!

Actually this game was supposed to launch with the system. So they delayed it mulitple times and it still turned out like crap. @_@

I was going to grab this version, thinking it might have some extras and such, but after reading reviews I'm just going to get the DC version.

Yeah, I also want the DC version, REALLY BAD! I would pick a new copy off ebay asap, but money is too tight right now unfortunately. It is one of those games that I really knew nothing about until 1 year ago when I got the N64 version. Then I found out that their was a DC version, and I want to get all over that. The graphics have to be so much better too. Which in this case, it's a plus.

i bet the main problem is control, I watched videos and graphics seemed not so bad, game came out on launch of psp so all reviewers were comparing it to that I bet. I will get it once I buy my psp and have extra cash laying around.
