I recently got sega classics collection and I love it. The problem is that I think that it may have a major glitch. I can't save in Virtua racing. I can save in other games just not virtua racing. I went into the menu to save and it said it saved then I tried to load that data I just saved and it said it had a load error. Anyone else have this problem?

Hmm

Didn't know there was anythihg you could save in virtua racing. Even in its hardest mode you still beat it in 8 minutes :)

There are other things to save, did you think he meant he couldn't save a race half done or something?

Did you check your memory card?

I am actually out of state right now, but I also noticed that while playing Alien Syndrome, you cannot go back to the main menu. Ehh for 20 bones, I can forgive a few glitiches...considering in Japan they were sold seperately!

What I ment is that the game has cars that can be unlocked. It doesn't save those cars that I have unlocked.

I assume you are playing Gran Prix mode, where it unlocks cars and it saves automatically after each race. It saves fine for me automatically, not sure what your problem is. Maybe you are out of memory on your PS2 card?

Had the same problem here... It saved but for some reason wouldn't LOAD the data for Virtua Racing, even after saving it 5 seconds before hand. Through some testing I've figured out a few things that I think effect V.R. saving. :)

Keep in mind that while all the games were separate release in Japan, the Sega Classics Collection save file is a SINGLE file instead of multiple saves, I'd guess this is where the problems originate.

First if you're using a GT Force feedback wheel, well, DON'T USE IT WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING WITH YOUR MEMORY CARD. The GT Force support is there (since it was in the Japanese release, Virtua Racing Flat Out) even though it's not documented and there are no adjustment modes for it. (BTW it works decently with SCC V.R. but there's not really any force feedback - which was damn dissapointing) When you have a GT Force wheel connected it seems to do strange things to the save system (such as corrupting your V.R. save that can only be fixed by wiping out the whole savefile for all the games and causing menu lag / pause not working / lots of stuff).

Okay, if that was the problem, GREAT! Now you get to delete your SCC save file and start over without using the GT Force wheel. That wasn't the problem? Well then guess what, you get to delete your SCC save file and start over anyway...

With no save file start up SCC and select V.R. and play Grand Prix mode as normal, the game will write an autosave file after each race. Here's another thing that caused random data corruption - NEVER manually save or load your V.R. data, let the game autosave it after each Grand Prix race and autoload it upon starting the game. 8-)

Also make sure that when you're done playing that you exit whatever game back to the frontend hub by pressing select at the game's attract screen. - Probably doesn't effect the save data but it couldn't hurt either.

Again, if you know your card has adequate room you have to blank out your save and start again. If each game had a separate save file that would be a different story. For $20 you really can't complain but considering all the delays the US release had one would think that problems like this would have been caught in testing. :hmm:
