View Full Version : Weirdest and Worst Things Consoles Have Done to Games
Every now and again a consoles goes and does something weird to a game, messing it up in some way, or busting it royally. And that's what this thread is about.
My story to share: Decided to show friends, years back, how cool Silhouette Mirage is. Since there were PSOne units at the video store I worked, I figured I'd use one of those to demo the game.
...It left THREE CONCENTRIC RINGS ON THE BOTTOM SURFACE OF THE DISC!

Never a console, but my dads CD player in his car CRACKED a cd. It came out of the deck, and I was sad.

I have had both a PS2 and an Xbox scratch discs. The PS2 left big arced gouges and the Xbox left several thin circles on discs. Joy.

I think this is the console, not the games. Its happened many times to me on the NES and SNES, from back when I was younger until just recently. Be playing a game, save it, wait several seconds, shut off console. Next time I come back, ONLY MY FILE IS ERASED (sometimes they're all erased, but its not nearly as frusterating)

I had the fuse in my SNES blown 2 or 3 times, and I started to suspect my Street Fighter 2 cartridge. Weird. (Yeah, I know, this is kind of the reverse.)
And would it be too much to post PSP launching UMDs animated GIFs? ;-)

This will ALWAYS happen, No matter what:
Every time that you insert a game (Cartridge format) then remove it (To play something else) some of the gold color comes off of the contacts, Wearing the game down.
ALWAYS.

Ive had my Ps2 break NFL Street in two. I put the game in, it makes this loud noise, hit the eject button and the game was broke in half!

My friend had he's copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga scratched the very first time he put the game into his saturn. Needless to say he was pretty much rip-shit after that.

I don't think that's a problem with the console itself. That just means that the batteries are dead in the games.
My Xbox ate a JSRF disc once. I had to rip the game out with a pair of plyers.
I guess this is a common problem with philips drives.

Ahh the cheap ass sega cd 2........left a nice "scratch ring" on my copy of Dark Wizzard. Needless to say, I went and got a CDX and the problem is gone.
