Dangit. I'm torn. I can choose only one. Both look amazing.
On the one hand, I have Ape Escape. I love platformers. My brother loved the original. I'd love to try this again and it looks like I'd have a lot of fun.
But on the other hand, Ridge Racer looks fricking amazing. It looks like a racing game I would actually enjoy. It's fast, furious, and doesn't have that Street Racing feel Underground has.
I just don't know which to choose.

Well, obviously. But I gotta decide which one first.
BTW, anyone know how much GameStop or EB gives on a Twisted Metal trade-in?

I would get Ape Escape first, because to me, RR looks like it will become a GH title faster.
Hm...Id probably say RR because it has some damn catchy music LOL
Plus there is a lot of replay value in RR (tons of unlockable cars) .

I would say Ape Escape. It's an awsome game, and has mini-games so it is gunna take a while to get old. I didn't like Ridge Racer much at all for DS. I don't know im just giving my thumbs up on Ape Escape and saying it's alot of fun.

I vote Ridge Racers, which is a brilliant racing game and PSP tech demo all in one. Ape Escape is very good fun, but it's pretty much just the PS1 version with DC-quality graphics and a few added mini-games, kind of the PSP equivalent of Super Mario 64 DS.

Ridge Racer DS was a sloppy, sucky port. Ridge Racers for PSP is a killer app. Their gameplay and audio/visuals are *very* different.

i have them both
they are both great games and i would recommend getting both at some point
if you can only get one....
if you prefer racers -- ridge racer
platformers -- ape escape
if it doesnt matter, i think the most impressive of the 2 is ridge racer

I too have both...but controls have really made my decision a lot easier to make so if I had to choose I would go with ridge racer...the lack of a second analog stick has made ape escape harder to play...so I'm voting ridge racer...or if you're feeling bold, lumines

exactly...thats my only problem with ape escape
the controls make it ackward to actually net the ape once you stun him

Ridge Racer... no question about it.
I had a import of Lumines and picked up RR & Wipeout Pure at launch. All of them are excellent, possibly the best set of launch titles I have ever had the pleasure of buying, but RR is truly transcendental. It compiles most of the tracks from RR's past with the best graphics in the series, a huge amount of both new, classic & classic remix tunes, and an incredible amount of tour mode series & unlockables. Whew! Run-on...
Seriously, if you have liked any of the past games, RR with blow your mind. It is truly amazing.

Alright. Here's what I did. I think I made the right choice..
Oh, what the hell, I chose Ridge Racer, and damn am I happy! It is a BEAUTIFUL GAME! The graphics are like NOTHING I have ever seen on a handheld EVER. I don't get into most racers unless they have karts or power slides. Or police that chase you. RR has Power Slides. I have discovered what makes a racing game fun to me, sliding around corners like you're on ice.
I bought it after work, opened it up and popped it in right there. Both employees were gathered around me gawking at the awesome graphics. One of them kept complaining that he wishes he didn't trade in his PSP (That was GIVEN TO HIM BY HIS UNCLE) for cash. I just kept calling him stupid and he agreed. It was fun. Anyway, from the second the camera started panning over the landscape, I felt like I was looking right at a PS2/Cube/Xbox game. It's not 100% realistic, but it's damn close.
I called GameStop and EB and they said they give $20 trade-in on Twisted Metal, so I'm just going to try to return it. I mean, technically, a game that keeps kicking me offline is defective. And since we're out of them, I can easily get my money back. So it's no big deal.
With the money I get back, I will put it towards DOOM 3 and Mercury.
EB said they have a trade-in deal which could net me Ape Escape, I asked what the limits were, they only said Sports games. I'll take my stack of el cheapo unwanted games over tomorrow and see what I can do. Anyone have experience with EB's trade-in deal and what games they've refused?
I wasn't understanding of what GameStop said theirs was, three games nets you $10 credit more or something? I dunno. Either way, if I'm lucky, I'll have both tomorrow. But today I'm happy I went with Ridge Racer.

Here is a link to info about the EB promo. I'm going to gather up some games and take advantage of this.

That's how I got Wipeout for 16.00. ;)

ugh...that was a headache...went in to do that trade and it took like half an hour...granted I tried to trade in 24 games...but still man the clerk got all upitity and started saying how I shouldn't do this in the future and shit...chances are I'm going to return all those games for store credit

Forget the trade-in thing. I never liked these hassles. I'll just never dump the shitty el cheapo games I bought for no reason other than to bump my collection number. I bet with normal trade-in value they're worth like $5.
I'll get my Ape Escape from the return of Twisted Metal.
