Alright, over the weekend I was at 998 games in my collection and I was trying to decide whether or not to make number 1000 something real special or just some game I havent seen that I wanted. So i finally ended up just picking up Wizard of OZ and Power Piggs of the Dark Age for the SNES at the same time and decided my 1000th game would be Power Piggs... just because you dont see many games with a better title.

So when you approach a milestone in your collection do you go out and look for a special game to make it the 100th or 1000th or just whatever game you want that you come across?

P.S. I had a little bit of a buying spree and I'm at about 1015 games now.

I just get whatever game I want. I couldn't even tell you which game was my 100th or 500th or 1000th anymore than I can tell you what number my milestone games were. Like the Hyper Duel game that I bought recently was a milestone game for sure, but it was probably some odd number, and I got a couple of other games in the same shipment with it. So I don't even worry about it, I just celebrate the milestones and rejoice that yet another marker has been passed. I tend to go on buying sprees too, and I often get games out of the order I bought them. I might buy one game before another but actually receive the other one before I receive the one that I bought first. So the numbers don't really matter to me as far as assigning them to a game.

I try to buy a game that would somehow be memorable to me. I purchased Power Blade 2 as my 500th game. The Power Blade games were two that I remembered from childhood and I now attach another memory to that game. As I near 1000, I'm trying to figure out what game I'll get. I'm actually thinking Stadium Events would be a memorable game. Just have to time it right with Ebay and such...

Congratulations!

I am on 978 with no sports games outside of Virtua Tennis & Tennis 2K2, so I will be there soon. I was thinking about the same thing lately. Unless 1000 happens accidentally in a spree, I was thinking that I would make Hyper Duel my 1000th. It would be my 3rd $100+ for one game purchase.

Congrats on 1000. That's definitely awesome. I reached 500 earlier this year when I bought Resident Evil 4, because I heard it was an awesome game. Very memorable purchase, even though originally I didn't like it, but now am on my 10th or so playthrough. For 1000, if I ever get there, I'll probably try and make it something special.

I'm curious as to how you guys count this stuff. Of course, any ROMs, burned games, and such shouldn't be counted, but what about computer games? Shareware games that you registered? Pack ins/OEM copies? And what about multi game carts, or plug n play DTV devices like those Atari joysticks?

Awesome, great job on reaching 1000! I was there once, but I decided to sell off a bunch of crap games, so I'm down to about 908 games now...Though I fully expect to hit the big 1000 again this year! :D

Heh, I wish I knew what my 100th or 200th game was. I just hit 300th tonight. Hopefully it's a game that will prove worthwhile.

Congrats on 1000! My that's a huge number. I doubt I'll get to 400. I can't see myself owning 1000 games, IMHO that's crazy haha. But more power to ya. Owning 300 titles is hard enough to pick what to play, 1000 is insane haha.

Thanks, for all the congrats.

For me personally, I dont count any computer games, just console and handheld stuff, but then again I only have about 10 computer games so thats probably why. As far as burned games I only count 2 of those because thats basically the only to have them - Thrill Kill (ps1) and Half-life (dreamcast).

Ditto here. Only console and handhelds. I don't count built in games either. So the Jaks retro stuff and Tiger handhelds don't count. No computer games, even though I would be well over 1000 if I counted those. I don't even count my ereader games. My conundrum will occur when I finally get around to disk based games on the C64. I feel like they should count, but at they same time they are on a diskette. Oh well, I'll burn that bridge when I get there.

Yeah, that's why I ask -- I have a bunch of original C=64 and Amiga games, not just PC games. :)
