Ya know you had a game lieing in your collection , just bought it without much thought, and didnt play it much? Well I had bought super darius 2 for the turbo duo a while back , and didnt play it much too hard , then i sat down today and played it seriously and found it a pretty great shooter and music (made by the band tdk) i would almost put it next to lords of thunder if it wasnt so hard on normal.

This may sound n00bish...but... Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past. I was never really a Zelda fan until about a year ago, when i forced myself to play it... and needless to say, now I cant get enough of the series.

Well there is that Barbie Super Model over there for the Genesis. Only bought it as part of my quest for a complete set, but after your stories I'm tempted to try it hoping that it will be the greatest game ever.....as long as no-one sees it's ok....right? LOL

All the time. Sometimes briefly trying a game isn't enough. You gotta seriously put some time into some titles or be in the right mood and frame of mind.

Awhile back I was hardcore into Rad Racer after barely touching it before. Once I got a little good, it was a blast. Dragon Spirit became one of my favorite shooters after I got in the right frame of mind for it. Heck, believe it or not, but both my boyfriend and I have finally "got" Pac-Man. It was one of the first games I ever played as a child, but I never got into it. Same goes for my boyfriend. We found that the game made us too tense constantly being chased by the ghosts, and well... we sucked. However, I just got him Pac-Man on Neo Geo Pocket Color for his birthday, thinking it would be a good little game to pay while he's in the bathroom, and now all of the sudden, we both got "Pac-Man Fever". Something just "clicked". It doesn't make me nervous anymore, and I can just relax and have a bit of fun with it. Since then, I've been playing at least a few minutes of it nearly everyday. I've been booting up my Namco Museum games to play with the Namco PlayStation joystick too (although, to be honest, I play better with the little red rings that lock onto the NGPC for 4-direction control). We both still suck, though. :P Neither of us have gotten past the 5th stage. >_<

I remember back to when I thought I was the only person in the world (besides my 2 friends) that collected Atari. I bought up everything I could find and put it on shelves and made lists and then I found the internet and came across the VGR list. I started to mark off the games I had and found out that some of the games I had were ER (Extremely Rare). I was pretty happy so I decided to do more research and found out about the DP Price Guide. The first cart that surprised me was Mr. Do's Castle for the 2600. I bought it at CHOC for 95 cents and the book said it's worth like 75 bucks.

That was my first surprise, besides finding out that more people than I know collect "old" video games.

I did something similar recently, with the Minish Cap. I never enjoyed 2-D zelda games before, and it was cause I never gave them a chance. I forced myself to sit down and start MC, and that was it.... couldnt put the game down til i beat it! LOL

I look at my online collection and I'll see a game that surprises me. For example, I was recently looking through it and I was like, "Viewpoint? WTF is that?" So I went through my Genesis games, found it, popped it in, and it's an ultra crappy shooter.

From a "I can't believe I have this" standpoint: Myriad 6 in 1
From a "I can't believe I never played this" standpoint: Zanac

Yeah. Sometimes when I'm looking for a particular item in my storage I often come across stuff I didn't know I had. Although a pleasant surprise, sometimes it's bad because I'll rebuy a game/piece of hardware. One of these days I need to make an inventory database.

Many times I'll find that a game that has the general consensus of being a pile of shit will end up being a personal favorite.

Aidyn Chronicles The First Mage on my N64, as an example.

Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly. It was one of the first Gamecube games that i bought, And i just played it the first time today in 8 months! I couldn't Believe that i deleted the Data on my memory card for Warioworld. (I only have one memory card for my Cube- A doggone 59 Block card, and with 7 games it's getting tough to squeeze memory onto that card)
