Long, long ago, I knew someone who had this game, and I recall that it was quite difficult and inscrutable. That said, I can still remember the music, and considering that Uematsu was apparently at work at the time, maybe that's not surprising.
Does anyone else here recall King's Knight? Ever finish it?

I didn't really like it when I played it a long time ago. Your mention of Uematsu potentially doing the soundtrack makes me want to check it out again though.

The music is nothing special. Neither is the game.

I agree, I don't even remember the music. Rad Racer is better as far as pre-Final Fantasty Uematsu goes.
I own a copy.....and hard ain't the word. Wasn't it Square's first ever game?

I believe it was one of the first of Square's US games. Impossible is more along the lines than hard.

I ended up getting this one as a birthday present when I was probably about 10. Its really, really hard for a 10 year and the frustration has carried over so much that I haven't touched it in 12 years.

My brother picked up King's Knight way back when, and I couldn't stand it. Tried it out again recently and I still can't stand it.

I have it.... it's okay until you get to the stage where all four of your guuys are together, it's pretty impossible at that point.

I believe Square did some MSX games in Japan in the mid eighties. I have a copy of Falcom's Dragon Slayer they did.

Right, Square was formed in 1985 and made MSX games for the first two years. Nothing did very well, so they pooled all their money and resources in 1987 into one 'last' game for the Famicom, and thus Final Fantasy was born. :)

I actually really like this game, and I think the music is really good. It looks pretty good too, actually. I think the problem with it is that it's a shooter dolled up like an RPG, so everybody felt betrayed by it. If you take it at face value, though, it's not bad. Extremely tough, but not bad.
