Does the first master system and the Master System II both use the same audio/video plug?

Can you use a Genesis 1 audio/video plug with them?

What power adapters do they use?

Can you use a Genesis power adapter with them?

thanks.

I think you can use the genesis AC adapter for the Master System.
I'm pretty sure that I've used my Megadrive AC adapter on my Master System II. Check voltage first if your gonna try, so you dont fry anything hehe.
Dont remember if they have AV out, but afaik AV out are only 1 standard. So if they have AV out, any AV cable should work.

Nothing is compatible between the SMS and the Genesis 2. If you got all the gear for the model 1, then you're set.

The Master System 2 only outputs RF (unless you can track down a French RGB unit).
Both SMS1 & 2 can use a Genesis power supply.

No it isn't. A Genesis 2 power suply is different to a Master System/Genesis 1 power supply.

Oops, you're right. I didn't notice that he specified Genesis 2.

If you don't have a spare Genesis AC, you can always use the AC from a NES model 1.

I can confirm that the Master System 2 is RF only (yech) and also lacks a card slot, which means no card games, no 3D glasses, while you are stuck in RF hell.

Master System 1 has an RF out, and a composite AV out, and a cable can be made for RGB out if a person wants to go to the trouble.

I use a quality TV for my gaming and not a RGB monitor, so I prefer S-Video modifications, which the Master System 1 can usually be modified to support.

I actually have a Genesis Model 1 R.G.B. cable that I can use with it. And I have plenty of Genesis 1 AC adapters. They come in real handy, because you can use them with Jaguars, TG-16's, Genny 1's, etc,.

Basically, I just need to get a barebones Master System 1, with a controller and I'm set.

You can use a Genesis controller for most SMS games.

You know I figured that I could probably use a Genny controller, but I don't think that would give me the same feel for that system. I would actually prefer to use a real Master system controller.

Otherwise, I would probably just get a Power Base Converter and not even get an actual individual Master System unit. In some ways it's a hassle to have a seperate unit, when I could just get a Power Base Converter, but I want the feel of the real system all by itself.

I understand. Once you're acquainted though it's nice to have the Genesis controller as an option. I use often use my Genesis 6-button for Atari 2600 games because I like the feel.

SMS fan that I am, I think the regular SMS controller...kinda sucks. But to each his own...I use a 6-button Genesis controller myself.

Seems to me with the time and money put into finding a PBC and a Genny 1, you could have bought an SMS 1 and several games off of eBay, but I could be wrong.

I like the feel of a genesis controller much more on the SMS, but do note that the games Montezuma's Revenge and Wonderboy In Monster Land will not work with one....it causes weird problems. No idea what does it, as they play on a powerbase convertor just fine with an sms controller. Oh well. There's probably other games, but those are the only two I've noticed so far that mess up.

There's a few games that have issues with a Genesis controller - it's due to the presence of the Start button, which is not there on the SMS. If you cut the pause button wire in a Genesis pad, it'll be fine.

I'm not too keen on the standard SMS pads either (crappy d-pad), which is why I use the superior Mark III pad for all my SMS gaming.

I have a Master System 1 and a Genesis 1. I use an RF switch for them and they are interchangable.

Then again, I have a Power Base Converter too, so my Master System doesn't see the light of day too often.
