I know I signed up. It didn't ask me for my info though. Does Nintendo already have it? I forget whether I gave them my address. I really want my hand! ;)

A completely lame give away, if you ask me.

Zadoc - that mannequin hand doesn't have the DS logo on it, I suspect some people will want one of those just to have the "DS" hand.

This is one of the weirdest and creepiest giveaway ever... BTW, it's for a contest in the US only.

Watch out for the Autons! They're coming your way!!! (Doctor Who fans will know what I'm talking about...)

These hands are probably the ones they (and other video game authorities) received when Sega did their "N64 controllers require three hands" campaign.

(Sega sent severed plastic hands to various places as a comment on Nintendo's awkward controller design).

Close all your broswers windows (except obviously that one) and enter your login again. If the request went through it'll say they've already had one from you. I think just plain Attention means you're getting one, but I'd double check just to be sure.

I logged it three times, once I got an "Attention: Please log out, close all windows and try again", then I got plain old "Attention", and lastly: "Attention: we've already had a request from this login".

So now I'm just confused. Oh well either I get it or I don't, it's just a hand.

I got the same thing. I tried it with different browsers, and when I logged in the second time I got that last message. Has anybody gotten a "confirmation" email or anything like that? The usually do that with their bonus discs, so I don't see why this would be different.

If I get it, cool I guess. I may just have to enter their contest and take a picture of it flushing a DS down a public toilet or something. That would teach Nintendo to send me a creepy severed hand.

I am only pointing out the obvious. Wouldn't you rather have a system that is almost on par with the current gen console, rather than a system that is re-living the glory days of the 64 bit era? Reguardless of who makes it? If Nintendo had put out a GameBoy system that was graphicly just like the GameCube I would buy it. But it seems like they are living in the past. A GameBoy that used GameCube disks would be kick-ass, but Nintendo is not doing anything remotely like that. At least Sony has a system that, even though on a different media, mimics it's home consols graphics. That is where it is at, and I think that the general public will see this and the GameBoy's market share will show this in the months to come

GameBoy DS = Virtualboy success in terrms of market.

I am only pointing out the obvious.

And yet, unfortunately, you're sorely missing the obvious point.

Not only are you beating to death a topic that has been beaten to death more than anything else recently, this does not belong in this thread (you've yet to even mention the topic at hand). Start another thread, or better yet, search for one of the 223 existing threads that are predicting Nintendo's doom, and add your input there.

I'm all for everyone having their own viewpoints - that's what makes for great discussion. That's also why there's a thread for practically everything you can think to discuss (and a search feature to find those threads), and suprise, suprise - that's also why there's an option to create a new thread, just in case you stumble across a new topic worth discussing.

Jasoco

THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT NINTENDO SHOULD GO AWAY! It is about a promotion! Can you not understand that, rpepper? You have no reason to be in here if that's all you are doing! Get the fuck out of this thread if all you want to do is complain. Jesus Lloyd Christmas!

Me: "I just played Sonic on my Genesis and kicked the heck out of Robotnik!"
Them: "Awesome!"
Me: "Did you see the new Halo?"
Them: "Yeah, it looks kick ass."
Me: "I finally beat Jak II on my PS2. Now I can start on Jak 3."
Them: "Jak is a great game."
Me: "Check out this copy of Adventure I got for my 2600."
Them: "Whoa, how much did it cost?"
Me: "You see the new Mario game?"
Them: "WHOA!! WTF? NINTENDO NEEDS TO DIE!!! OMG LOLZ0RZ!!!!@11"

I hope my order went through. I believe it's a real manniquen hand. At least in the pictures on the site, it is.

GameBoy DS = Virtualboy success in terrms of market.

The DS sold over 3 million units the last I heard. If I'm not mistaken, the Virtual Boy never sold over a million, even though it was only a couple dollars more expensive. The DS is selling, and frankly I don't understand why so many seem to think that Nintendo is dying, just because they have some competition all of a sudden.

For those complainers, get over it. Its a contest. Its a creative one at that. At least they're a unique piece, instead of just another promo t-shirt or sticker. Win or lose, at least people get something for their troubles.

Got it today (UPS tracking showed that I would get it Saturday, but it never showed :( ). Anyhoo, its just a generic plastic mannequin hand. Mine doesn't even do anything interesting like point, or stick up a middle finger. Its just a hand.

There was a little note that came with it however, stating something along the lines of "If you look hard enough, you'll see how life can look like a game." Sounds like something Mr. Miyamoto would say.

So I'm somewhat dissapointed that its not marked with Nintendo logos in any way, but I have some neat ideas to try for the contest. Can't wait till the weekend to try 'em out!

Mine looks to have arrived.. I think. It's a box. A brown cardboard box. No padding apparently inside. Something shaking in there. No sort of cool Nintendl labeling, just a return address of NOA.

Wow.. It could have been so much more, but I guess it was either this or pay for shipping. I prefer the freeness. I was just hoping for at least some Nintendo markings so in 10 years I don't look at this hand and wonder "What the heck is this from??"

Edit: Well, at least it comes with a slip of paper about the contest. Also, mine's white. Squishy white. Anyone else have pictures? Are they all white?

Frankly, I think it looks good. It's holding its piece of paper so people know what it is and where it came from. And if I had a Nintendo related watch, I'd put one on it as well.

If you're curious, other things in the picture:
A bunch of scale car toys, Old Beatle with a bee, new beetle from my friend, a PT Cruiser, some toy car from my brother, the Batmobile from Batman Returns Happy Meal toy and off the edge, a cut out Mini Cooper from a magazine.
Green bouncy ball.
Two F-Zero GX promo pins.
Another hand, this one's paper. I had it since school for about 10 years+ now. Art class..
Photo of me and frind at the WTC, glad I bought it.
A bunch of game catalogs, including a Japanese one that came with a DVD with an interview with Miyamoto. (All Japanese. No English at all. :()
Spy Hunter 2 motorcycle pre-order I got when I pre-ordered Midway Arcade Treasures. (The only pre-order gift that seemed relevant, plus it was free.)
Spongebob Voice Recorder thingy.
The letter Y.
The letter Z. (Obscured by...)
A fallen behind catalog I just noticed while writing this up.
The top of a tile with a computer engraved on it I made in art class.
Motherboard from our old 286.
A shelf.
A shelf support.
The wall.
A few million particles of dust.

How's that for completeness?

And that's only a small percentage of the crap I have on my shelves.

JJNova

I... the Batmobile from Batman Returns Happy Meal toy...

Are you positive about that? It looks from the photo to be the Batmobile from the first Keaton flick....I am POSITIVE. It separates. You press the button and the front separates from the back and shoots ahead.

I make it a point to know my own toys! LOL

The second movie had the Batmobile separate and become thinner, I forget why, I believe to fit between a narrow passageway. I haven't seen that one in years.

Also, it has a Copyright of 1991.

Also, I am positive. 100%.

And I am posting lots of text to get as much Meseta out of this post as possible.
