I made good on the threat in my year-in-review post, and the space above the door and window in my game room is no more...

$12 dollors of pine from Home Depot, stain left over from my last custom shelving unit and 3 hours later it is done. I was going to use this space to house my rapidly expanding Long Box PSX collection, but then a voice inside my head said, " what about those boxed 2600 games you've been hiding?"

I've been keeping complete, boxed 2600 games as I've found them, but not displaying them, as they were only a small part of my 2600 collection. But when I bought out a local collector earlier this year, that number jumped to about 70, and it seems they have won out (them and a few McFarlane figures!). And while they ate up the new space, having these boxed copies allowed me to weed out the loose 2600 copies from the rest of my carts.

Knocking 70 2600 carts out of my 2600 unit made space for my Colecovision carts, which emptied a drawer in my floor -to-ceiling unit, which made space for the dozen extra SNES games that had been loitering next to my PSX games, which made some room for the long box PSX games I had initially planned on putting up on my new shelves.

The upshot is, I added 100 inches of new shelving and have no more space than when I started. As I let out a heavy sigh and look upward for inspiration, I can't help but notice how barren and empty my ceiling is looking all of a sudden....

I think new game room pics will be in order for 2003.

Watch out for sunlight! Those yellow Atari boxes bleach fast. I have one that is almost gone.
