Seller claims that tear on side of box may be manufactur defect. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening or should I avoid this item?

I've never seen or heard of anything like that... I'd be cautious. Story could be true, but... it's very strange and somewhat suspicious.

I guess the packing machines can tear the box, but I have never seen or heard about it.
