Someone found a way to browse online using Wiopeout Pure without having to set up your own webserver, make changes to firewalls, DHCP forwarding or any of that complicated crap.

Step by step it goes like this:

1. Goto Settings > Network Settings > Infrastructure Mode > New Connection (you want to make a new connection so you can still use your default connection for regulare game use).

2. Create a new connection and after you've set the SSID and WEP (if you use it) in Address Settings goto Custom >Manual.

Now set an IP for your PSP (192.168.1.xxx where xxx can be any number between 001 and 255 works for me, your router may require a different IP number check you manual).Leave the Subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Set the Default Router to your router's IP address (I have a Linksys and mine 192.168.1.1, check your manual). Set the Primary DNS to 67.171.70.72 (this is what will let you get onling browsing). Set the secondary DNS to your router's IP.
3. Set Proxy Server as Do Not Use if you are not using one.

4. Confirm the setting list and Save the settings.

5. Put in Wipeout Pure and go to the Downloads section. When it asks what connection to use select the connection you just set up and viola, your online!

You can navigate the pages using the D-pad and select links with the X button. You can also enter text into text boxes by highlighting the box and pressing X.

Now even though I have broadband loading some pages takes a while. It may not always be the fast but it does work! :D

awesome stuff... Its like Microsoft IE, not some cell phone browser

I wonder if I could get something like AIM Express to work with this...I think I'll try and find out.

Wow, every thread this guy makes gets crapped on.

As for browing via PSP, I really don't find it that interesting. I would expect it to be.. slower considering I'm not using a keyboard.

I've followed a couple of different of these online tutorials, but can never make it past the "Downloads coming soon" screen. What am I doing wrong?

I'm impressed, it actually works! Does anybody know what setup was done on the site you dns though to make it work?

I'm tempted to buy Wip3out just to try this out, but I hear there's a web browser coming to the PSP anyway next month. Any news on this? I'd rather have it built-in than to have to use a super cool hack.

It's already built in. You just have to unlock it. There's a trhead around here somewhere that's concerning this exact thing. I don't know how this thread managed to keep from getting locked.

Err..Nevermind, this one uses the game, the other one just uses the PSP's built in browser.

Awesome, it works! I was able to log in and post w/ it on another message board, even.

I love how the main browser links to the most recent Penny Arcade. :)

So you can use your PSP to search eBay and place bids? I may purchase one of these if this is the case...

Very cool...I'll try this at the next hotspot I find. Theyre all over Seattle so it shouldnt be long.

Is it text based surfing or GUI?

I'm bumping this back up to the top because, like a couple of other people, I am having problems with this. I followed the instructions to the letter, but I am still getting that darn "Coming Soon" screen. I have the DNS server set to the one the guy set up, so how the heck is it still able to load that coming soon page???

Chris

EDIT: I set the primary AND secondary DNS servers to the ones that this dude set up. Now I really dont see how I am still getting the coming soon screen...

Maybe it has to do with the version of the PSP or Wipeout Pure. Those who have tried it, will you tell us your PSPs version, when you got your Wipeout, and if it worked? I'd also like to try this out.
