Do you play RPGs once, then set them in your collection not to be played again? Or do you play them a 2nd or 3rd time through after to see different parts of the story, or play them again a few months later?

I often replay some good RPGs like Final Fantasy 3 (SNES), Chrono Trigger, and Suikoden. Some RPGs are played once (sometimes not completed at all!) and is left forgotten.
I think the most often played and completed RPG game for me is Ultima 5 for C64.

I'm in the middle of running through FF3 while at work right now, actually. Otherwise I don't usually play through a second time. I have a feeling if I did I'd just use a gameshark or game genie to buff everybody up to the point where I can just run through the game and rewatch the storyline.
Lunar Legend on the GBA is kind of an exception. Lunar Legend is a shortened retelling of Lunar 1, with redone graphics and a reworked storyline (read different dungeons/areas). The battles are fun, and the animations of the characters are awesome. I highly reccomend this game to people who liked the first Lunar!!!!

I really WANT to, and I always TRY to, but I can't do it. The last RPG I played more than once was FF8.
Excluding the Final Fantasy Series, I don't think I've ever played an rpg more than once through (Give or take a couple) I just can't bring myself to do it. Wish I could.

I want to also but many times it's a matter of finishing them the 1st time around!

some I wouldn't touch agian.. like Lands of Lore, or FF8 but some I have beat many times. some of those are Phatasy Star, Bard's Tale(amiga), Pool of Radiance (c64), FF3, Chrono Trigger, you could count all the Zelda games i guess..
I find that I can play threw an RPG I finished 10 years ago no problem as my memory will have forgotten details, but I wouldn't go playing FF-X agian.. It was the last RPG i finished..

FF3 I played 3 times and now it sits untouched for a few years now.
Crono Trigger I finished then played part of it again and now it sits.
I own and played almost all of the SNES RPG's but now they are just numbers in my video game collection. Shadowrun on the SNES was one of my favorite RPG's.
Suikoden 1 and 2 I finished but never played again.
BOF 1-4 I have 'em all and finished 1 & 2 then played 2 a bit again.
BOF 3 I didn't get into much and I still haven't touched BOF 4.
I'm now playing Suikoden 3 and love it. This one I can see playing again.
My FF collection is short but I'll have 'em all one day. :-D

It used to be every few years i end up buying an NES and zeldas and DW and whatnot, playing them again, finishing them, selling them.
only thing has changed is me keeping them.

funny this comes up now, lol- i'm playing front mission 3 again to see the second storyline (so far it's been about 131 hours for both scenarios). some rpgs HAVE to be played a few times, like star ocean the second story (psx) with its 80+ endings, chrono trigger (10 endings), and games like morrowind, where you create your own history as you play are tops. thing is, this takes up any free time unless one is unemployed, lol...
i've actually played through shining in the darkness (gen), sorcerer's kingdom (gen) exile (gen/duo), feda: emblem of justice (sfam), airs adventure (saturn), and phantasy star(sms) the most times- the shining force games are a close second... X_x

I played Sword of Vermillion, Zelda, Link, FF1, and Mario64 more than once. But those have been over the last several years. Generally I don't have time. Job, two kids, wife, 11 acres of land, horses, dogs, cats, goats generally take up most of my time.
