Anyone have this? Bought it at Gamestop yesterday, minus the manual :hmm: and trying to figure it out somewhat.

Yep. Have you played Raystorm or Galactic Attack? It's pretty much the same deal (seeing as those were the previous games in the series). Or if you haven't, perhaps you're familiar with the Xevious vertically-scrolling multi-level attack style of shmup? You attack enemies in the air with your main weapon and bomb ground enemies with your secondary weapon. However, unlike Xevious, you can lock multiple targets before unleashing the secondary weapon--locking more enemies at once before firing gives you much larger point bonuses than picking them off one at a time.

EDIT: Oh, and shoot the core.

Just curious, how much did you pay for it?

EDIT: Oh, and shoot the core.
Wha? Was that a duplicitous trick, a word filter, or Captain Wrong's treachery?

Answer: Both.

I'd like to play this game and Raystorm as well. I really freaking liked Rayforce, and am interested to see how the sequels match up. Advice: Master that damn lock laser. It sucks to have things attack you from the background (or the belowground, as the case may warrant), but at least you can do something about it.

... oh yeah. One more thing. Arms installation complete. Good luck. *runs*

played some of this for awhile before work this afternoon. Intresting game, takes some getting used to with the Encroachment Meter. i happen to like the ship with the lightning lock-on weapon most so far.

This thread made me decide to fire up Raycrisis in my PSOne, but I was having a problem getting the "MAIN SCREEN TURN ON."

*sniff* Have some fun Kaine.

And I hated Raycrisis for this reason. To actually see the levels, you have to do well in the game. The worse you do, the shorter the levels get, to the point where you can beat the whole game in like 10-12 minutes if you really suck. And it triples in length if you're good I understand. I never was good at it so I never got to see most of it. Drove me nuts.

SOMEONE SET KAINE UP THE BOMB!

(Psst...lighten up Kaine, you'll live longer. And I agree with Maxlord's comments about the game.)

I've been wondering about that myself, the shortness and all. Guess takes some practice and luck to get more out of it. Gotta admit though, Working Designs did make a creative shooter with Raycrisis.

Working Designs just published it. Like hell they could make anything as good as that series.

I've been hunting a copy of that game for a while, I'm a huge fan of Rayforce, and Raystorm wasn't bad, either.

I loved Rayforce and Raystorm too, but something about Raycrisis didn't sit well with me. Just so ya know Kaine, WD never made ANY games themselves. Not one. All they ever did was port stuff that other people made.

If anyone is interested in a factory sealed copy of Raycrisis, I've got one for sale. Make me an offer.

This raises the question of whether or not Lords of Lunar, a Warlords clone hidden in the PlayStation port of Lunar: The Silver Star Story, counts as an original Working Designs game. Didn't one of WD's programmers make the mini-game from scratch?

Considering that the "Making Of" disc that contained the game discussed the localization almost exclusively (rather than the ACTUAL creation of the game by the Japanese staff [yes, I know they showed the Japanese staff a tiny bit]), I'm guessing that Japan got no "Making Of" disc, which would suggest that the game was made by Working Designs unless they took the code from something else originally.

It's not like it's a technical feat, anyway. o_O It's pretty cool as a bonus, I suppose, but I tried it out for all of a couple minutes and never touched it again. I don't know if Game Arts would even want to be known for making a lame clone of Warlords with ripped portraits of the Lunar characters slapped in.

As for Raycrisis, I'm not a huge fan of it. I like Raystorm much better. Not that I have much of a choice at the moment, though. My copy of Raycrisis has disappeared. O_o I'm almost positive that I brought it from my mom's house to my house here last September and then almost immediately after getting here, my boyfriend's brother asked to borrow it, but he claims it never happened or he gave it back right away (which definitely didn't happen otherwise it would be on my shelves o_O ).

It seems Zach already answered my question. Lords of Lunar was indeed a Working Designs original.
