From Geek.com:

"Xbox 2 peripherals will all work on the PC, according to Dean Lester, General Manager of Windows Graphics & Gaming Technologies. Lester went on to say that the next version of Windows, codenamed Longhorn, will also support Xbox Live. The Live support is no suprise, but the controller being compatible with your PC is a pretty cool idea. The current Xbox controller uses a hybrid version of the USB standard, and third-party companies have created adapters which allow USB devices to connect to an Xbox. Of course, this is only going to fuel the whole "the Xbox is only a PC" argument."

Fine by me. This is good news. Especially if this means it takes standard usb plugs, because then mouse and keyboard would be much simpler.

Very good idea, at least in theory. I certainly will look forward to having Microsoft make controllers for PC again - their Sidewinders were plain awesome.

But then - expect to see hax on Xbox Live.

I'm definitely surprised. What do they want to do, make Xbox games playable on the PC?

I *love* my DualShock to USB converter. PC controllers have yet to match what's been available on the consoles IMO.
