Okay, through fire, flood, meteor, super eruption, mad cow disease whatever, you lose your entire collection.

What is the first game or item you're going to look for first?

Me? I'd get me a VCS and the Adventure cart (text label). No question about it.

How about you?

EDIT: Just to clarify: You've ONLY lost your collection (this was an Extremely Selective Catastrophic Event) all your basic needs (including a TV, but not including a significant other if you didn't have one already.) are already taken care of.

Something that would last a while, no doubt. An RPG or something would work.

I'd also try and get some common titles first so that I have variety in the things to play.

PC, emulate or pirate until proper versions can be aquired.

Humanoid

A SP would be on the top of my list. I'm a portables man, plus you have all the Gameboy, Gameboy coloer, and Gameboy Advance games to pick from.

Hmmm.... 7800 with handful of games and some red label 2600 games 8-)

A Super Nintendo with the Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past.

I'll start with the roof over my head.

But assuming that's already taken care of, I believe a detachable-joystick Odyssey2 would be in order.

Portable system as I don't have a couch, tv, or living room to play games in. Yet when I'm sleeping in a box on the sidewalk I could still play Zelda on my GBA.

i'd go back and restart of my NES collection, aquiring all the games i remember from my childhood (just like i originally did when i started collecting).

super mario bros.
super mario bros. 2
super mario bros. 3
bionic commando
super dodge ball
river city ransom
TMNT II
solstice
strider
rampage
megaman II
megaman III
solomon's key
milon's secret castle
legend of zelda
adventure of link
power blade
contra
super c

but this time i'd be smarter and win a few lots off ebay that are filled with commons and give my NES collection a really huge (and cheap) kick-start.

A PS2 with Disgaea.

A 7800 and a Cuttle Cart 2.

I'd be far too heartbroken to ever go back to collecting video games again. It would be the end of my collecting days. There's no way that I would ever attempt to replace everything that I once had, or just a few things, or even just one thing. I'd simply consider that long fantastic ride to finally be over.

Well, if it were to happen right now, I'd probably just grab myself a PSP with the three or four games I have now as lately, it's all I want to play.

Later on down the road maybe I'd start going after all my GameCube favorites. Fortunately this time I could cut the fat, not get every game in sight, just what I want to play.

A Dreamcast and the three games that GOAT Store Publishing produced would be at the top of my list.

After that, a Jaguar with Tempest 2000.

Beyond that, I don't think I'd actively hunt for too much that I already own. Most of my collection I keep around because of its sentimental value to me, which would be destroyed if the actual carts I used to play disappeared. I'd probably regain a GameCube and Xbox since those are the two I'm most actively playing right now, but games that I'm pretty deep into right now I wouldn't want to start all over with.

Hopefully, thats not a bridge I'll ever need to cross...

First thing would have to be an R-390A/URR (http://www.electronixandmore.com/adam/r390a.html).

After that, an Atari 7800 with a Joust cart. That game barely ever leaves my 7800! 8-)

i think i'd re-get my complete Odyssey 2 collection first....just for the sake of having my 1 and only complete collection back again

I think my brain would be too shattered to think for a good long while.

...then I'd start buying massive lots on Ebay, I couldn't start with just one thing.

The question is...what would I decide to do without this time around?

Out of what I currently own I'd skip the Genny, Dreamcast and Cube.....although I wish that it was viable to live with JUST a Cube. Unfortunately you'd die of boredom. I don't own any Sony systems right now.

The N64......tough one. There's N64 stuff that I own that would be a pain in the ass to replace, so I think that I'd also skip that system.

In reality I'd pick up an Xbox, the DVD remote and a copy of Star Wars KotOR to start. Later on I'd add a NES as my retro system. Living with two systems would be a dream. Living with one would be heaven.

I think I'd just say "shit!" and then file an insurance claim and then go out and buy a GameCube and a whole mess of games (I newest system I have now is a Dreamcast.) I doubt I'd go back to collecting at that point, but you never know.

I think it'd be the end of collecting for me, as it'd be WAY too expensive to reacquire all that stuff. I'd get a Dreamcast and a buch of emulators, take the insurance settlement, and spend it on something else.

An xbox, a live account, a good stick, and SFAC. That's all I'd need.

Definitely a GBA SP. It's portable, has the biggest selection of games because of its backwards compatability, and is relatively cheap to pick up.

Over half my stuff is irreplaceable!!! Literally! Being majority sealed, most my stuff would be virtually impossible to find again. and even if I did find a lot of it (In the same condition) it would cost a fortune!

My first game I bought would definately be Final Fantasy VII though. Obviously, i'd be distraught, and i'd need something familliar to get me through it. Something which would take a while to work through until I found some other stuff.

I'd also have to get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater II (DC), Age Of Empires II (PC), and Red Alert II (PC)

To round it off, i'd look for a Zelda: Link's Awakening

Well everything would be covered (hopefully) by insurance....

But I would start with an Xbox / a live account and Halo 2 since I have been playing it non stop for a while now.....

But after that , I would work on my NES collection (It would be a bitch to find everything complete like it is now)

I'd go right out and buy myself a new SNES, and start reacquiring all my favorite games, starting with Chrono Trigger.

Geez. I'd probably pickup a PS2 and start back in on my RPG collection, but I'd find it really hard to pickup some games I've already beaten. My SNES RPG collection would go away forever, way to expensive to collect them complete and I'm never doing it again.

I'd also definitely want to pickup an Xbox, and then when the new Zelda comes out, a Cube. I'm fairly content without any older systems around now (at school) so I've realized I've been collecting for SNES and PSX mostly out of obligation to the genre. I plan to play them all still, but if I lost them I don't think I'd go through that ebay nightmare again to get it all back.

Atari 2600 4-Switch woody with:
Combat (natch)
Asteroids
Space Invaders
Missile Command
Indy 500

...for this was my beginning, and it would be my beginning again. After that, I'd probably just focus on pre-NES systems as they came along, eschewing later systems in favor of emu or their eventual obsolescence.

But I've got to have my 2600 above all else.

Let's see...

I'd first scream like a girl, then go to Gamestop and buy a GBA and all the "Mega Man Battle Network" Games.

...Then later get the other Mega Man games!

I'd buy an initial D version 3 arcade machine with the insurance money and live a happy life.

Most likely I would get a PS2 with all 3 Dance Dance Revolution Games and a dance pad. For a classic system, I would most likely get an NES with about 10 games.

An SNES with Final Fantasy 3.

I presume you mean after I got my soul back from whatever dark pit it would have plummeted into? Dreamcast probably, get a few commons for that. Crazy Taxi may not heal all wounds, but it can sure help salve them.
