Am I seriously the only one who found the cyberdemon easy?
It took me about 4-5 tries to beat him. Once I found a quick way to power up the soul cube, he was pretty easy.
I couldn't figure out how to activate that damn lift to get me to the lower levels. I must have been doing something wrong, so I intend to retry it soon.
There's a ladder nearby that leads to a control room with the switch to turn on the lift.

GAME OVER, MAN. I made the Cyberdemon my biotch, and the threat of Hell is gone... for now, anyhoo. The final battle was a little easier than I expected, but still hard enough. The main threat came from the Imps and Maggots blocking my movement while trying to stay as far away from the Cyberdemon as possible. When I first tried it, some asshole was blocking me while trying to run, ol' Cybie came too close to me, and SQUISH. That was the story of me. Thankfully, I wasted him my next try, but I almost lost at one point. The Soulcube saved my ass, though. I swear, that thing is too damn cheap. Instant death for most creatures, very severe damage for others, and you regain all your life (which does not apply to lesser demons like Trites and Cherubs, but why are you using the Soulcube against those infidels anyway?).
Overall, I can say that I was thoroughly satisfied with the experience. What a blast, and now I can go back through all the levels that I want to, perhaps on higher difficulties. Cheers, Id. Although I'm definitely not the greatest fan of the FPS genre, you guys made the classics... and improved on them ten years later. :)

I didn't have any trouble with it at all... for me, much of the game was pretty easy for me, especially on the second and third time through.

There's a ladder nearby that leads to a control room with the switch to turn on the lift.If you're talking about the same one I am thinking of, yeah, it took me a few minutes to realize what to do. I walked past the computer with the switch maybe 10 times before I finally saw it. RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF MY FACE! I am used to red compter screens, the white ones threw me off.
As for Cheats.. where? I haven't seen D3 cheats for the Xbox version anywhere yet.

I'm just gonna cheat from here on out. I'm really sick of having to use the fucking shotgun for everything because thats the only ammo I can find. Cheat how? :hmm:

That's the exact one. I thought the controls to unlocking the lift brakes was located farther down in the control room somewhere, but I eventually found the monitor was in the room right after you step through the door. D'OH! Tricky, tricky.

Wow thanks, good to know! I will play without cheats, but if I get frustrated or something, maybe I will check it out a bit, or use them next time I play it through.....

How did you miss out on Halo 2? It's still around and there are more than enough copies of it to go around. HURRY AND GRAB THE LE THOUGH, THEY ONLY MADE 4.5 MILLION COPIES OF IT.
Annoys me when companies do that, but it ensures I'll get the pretty one sometime down the line. I also need to pickup the Doom3 collectors ed. as well.

Alright, am I missing something, or is ammo REALLY tight? I'm at the very beginning right after the zombies appear. By the time I get to the third fireball imp, I'm out of ammo on the pistol and the shotgun. If it's that bad for ammo, I'm going to have to drop down to easy.

That's what I thought on Medium (Marine) difficulty, but later on into the game, I was drowning in my supply of shotgun shells. Here's a little tip: Get good at melee fighting with your flashlight early in the game against unarmed zombies. Those slow undead guys are no match for you if you hold the L trigger, get up to their face, club them with your flashlight, and then doubleback before they can lunge at you. On Marine difficulty, it should only take about 2-4 hits to down them. If you're so bold, you can even do this against Imps too. It's not advised against armed soldier zombies, though.
And once you get the Chainsaw, your ammo worries are over! Once you get good with that, you can shred up almost every demon with relative ease, and it doesn't cost you a damn thing! Of course, it's not the best idea to rely ENTIRELY on your chainsaw, especially against those infinitely irritating Lost Souls and Cherubs, unless you don't mind losing a bit of armor here and there. It's your best friend against Imps, though, and if not for the Chainsaw, you would waste so much ammo against them.
Bottom line: It's all about the L trigger. Run with your melee weapons, and you'll WANT to waste ammo late in the game.

Also, be sure to get all of the codes out of the PDA to unlock the storage and weapons lockers to get more ammo. And poke around in the dark corners. You'll occasionally find ammo just lying around. I'm playing Marine difficulty, myself, but haven't advanced past the first intestine-looking room with the pentagram (teleporter?) on the floor. Too scary! @_@ ;)

Ammo is fairly tight early in the game... my tip is to not waste it on the unarmed zombies (civilians) -- use the flashlight, pistol or (especially) chainsaw once you get it.

And talk about wasting ammo--the first time I saw the sentry bot I must have emptied a submachine gun magazine into it before I noticed that it wasn't trying to kill me. Dur hur hur.
I'll bet it's gonna try later, though...
