I just want to get some collectors opinions on this. What do you feel is the proper way to store complete and factory sealed NES games to preserve them?

Personally I have them in draws stacked up on top of each other in sets of 5. People say stacking them on top of each other causes creasing, but I don't see this method causing any creases in my games.

Anybody have any thoughts on what they feel is the proper way to store complete/factory sealed NES games?

I don't collect sealed games but I would assume that stacking them vertically (a la books on a book shelf) would put less strain on the individual games. The weight of 4 games on the bottom game may not seem like much, but over the course of years, or even decades, there would have to be some adverse effect.

I agree. I don't collect complete/sealed either, but I would put them in rows so that they aren't on top of each other. Either that or build a shelf that holds each game by itself (like some CD racks) , but that could be pretty damn time consuming.

I agree. I'm going to have figure out a way to store them like that or on their sides. I'd hate to ruin the games after spending so much time and money finding them.

I don't collect sealed games either, but I think the sealed NES games will stay in better shape than sealed Atari games, because the box is completely full, whereas the Atari boxes are full of air (especially the later Atari 400/800 etc. boxes, holy shit @_@ ). I have so many formerly sealed Atari games where the shrinkwrap was shrinking (hence the term shrinkwrap) and constricting the box, twisting it into evilness. In the NES box, you've got that handy piece of styrofoam and the cart that takes up the rest of the box. Kudos to you, Nintendo, for thinking ahead. :D

Now I'm off to open up my recently won 7800 Sealed Commando! I love that game. :-P

The few sealed games I have sit on the shelf with the rest of games. I seperate the cart from the box if it's already opened. Cart sits to the left of the box. Box is on it's side with the top facing out. Sealed games have the same orientation, just no cart to the left side. This way there is no extra weight on top of the game and I get the pleasure of looking at it.

I don't collect sealed NES games specifically but, I think the best way to store them would be to get the clear plastic sleeves that video game rental stores use for displaying the game box, and putting them on the shelf like books in these sleeves- I know the sleeves do wonders for preserving open games in my collection, I just wish the sleeves were easier to find!
