Is anyone else REALLY excited about this? It's slated to release on April 5th, and is only $19.99! It's 4 players, and live compatible. Sounds like a steal to me, considering I loved Spy vs. Spy on the NES. too bad the sequel never came out!
Anyways, here is the Xbox info from gamespot, screenshots, preview, etc..

i dont get it, is it a 3d remake of the original, or an entirely new game? those screen shots made it look like a 3d platformer or something.

They took the concept from the original and made it into 3d! I think its an entirely new game, but not a platformer, same style as the original
Sweet.

I loved the old First Star Software Spy vs Spy trilogy and this sounds similar so I'm at least going to try it.

I saw this awhile ago too. It's coming out for PS2 also. Oddly enough, I just bought the NES cart last week!
I had also heard (in this very site) that First Star Software was releasing a compilation of sorts containing the first 3 Spy vs. Spy games. I found this a little odd because usually games bearing licensed themes get omitted from compilations because of copyright/royalty issues. Has anyone heard anything about this compiltation? Specifically, what platform was it supposed to come out on?

This really looks nice. Loved Spy vs Spy stories from old Mad Magazine back in the day. This will definitely be on my must-have list.
Now if only somebody could make a game with Don Martin drawing-style animation I will be in pre-teen nerdvana.

If you find yourself missing out on knowing about games that are upcoming, but not out yet, subscribe to the DP Wire Service HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/mailform.htm).
It's free, and every two weeks a new Wire is sent to your e-Mail Inbox. I type up a list of upcoming releases for all the major systems (Xbox, PSP, DS, GCN, PS2, GBA, N-Gage, and PC.) Also, pre-order goodies are featured.
Besides releases, a lot more video game info is included and you are probably missing out if your not subscribed.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Commodore 64 version.
Hope it turns out fun! :D

Okay I am pretty mad about my attempt to get this game yesterday...
I went not to 1, not 2, but 4 different stores to find this game, with no such luck. Gamespot showed a release date of 4/5, so naturally I went yesterday 4/6 to pick this sleeper up. They never got it. No shipment, no record of a future shipment, but it is in the system. So I went to Blockbuster, K-Mart, AND Wal-mart. They all looked at me like I was some sort of space alien with 6 eyes and 20 arms. No one has any idea. Yeah, I should have pre-ordered it, but I didn't think it would be this big a deal.
Has anyone seen this game on the shelves anywhere? Has anyone actually gotten it and played it?
Let me know....
-Chris

I don't know how reliable this info is, but gamefaqs.com has a release date of 29/4 for the european release and 23/5 for the north american release...

Went to Babbage's to pick it up. According to their info, the Xbox version should be out by week's end. The PS2 version has been pushed back to a May release.
I'm not too worked up about it. I went through the same thing with the PS2 Dragon's Lair 3D release.
"It's been pushed back to Summer."
"It's been pushed back to Thanksgiving."
"It's been pushed back to Q1 of 2003."
"It's only going to be released in Europe."

It's out for Xbox. Anyone playing it? No reviews yet, somewhat hesitant ...

Bought it today, and DAYUM this game kicks ass! The controls are a bit weird. R is fire, and B selects your weapon. A is jump, and Y selects your traps. It's very polished looking, but the camera is semi-manual so often you can't see around corners without using the right stick manually, and the enemies tend to go for ya hardcore. They're brutal too. If you die in single player, you can just keep going though. It's not too tough once you get the hang of it (though the water targets.... *shiver*). Anyway, it's damn cool, and the mod-a-spy outfits are GREAT as well. I played a tiny bit of modern multiplayer, but I got slaughtered, looks neat, a giant melee free for all.
I haven't played multiplayer and can't play online (no Live). I really like it so far....well worth the $20.

I picked the game up last night before the boyfriend and I went on a double date. We tried out the multiplayer afterwards and it was pretty sweet. I gotta say, being able to blow each other up was pretty cathartic.

We went to a few places before we found it...CC, Best Buy, Game Stop tried to tell us it wasn't out yet but then when they looked it up they said were getting some in tomorrow, so you might have better luck then. Finally found it at EB.

Since my local WalMart isn't carrying it, I've had to order it. How's the Live support? Are there enough players? Lag-free? Old-school version Live support? I NEED INFORMATION PEOPLE, it's killing me ...

I just picked this up at Gamerush. So far, this is the only place I've seen that carries it. So if you're looking for a copy, check them out if you have one nearby. Haven't had a chance to play it yet but I'll post a mini-review once I do, including the Live play.
The original c64/NES game isn't included on here too, is it? I could have sworn I saw it mentioned somewhere before but I didn't see anything about it in the manual.

I have to admit, I wasn't holding out too much hope for this. But, you guys do make it sound good. Amazon (UK) has it down for an end of April release at just 16.99. Sounds like a steal if the gameplay stands up!

I heard about this a while ago, but other than some screen shots I didn't hear much. For those of you that have it, is it really worth buying?

Ehhh, I don't like it. Isn't my kind of game I guess. I'll trade or sell my copy if anyone here wants it.

So for those of you who have picked it up, what do you think of it?
I'm enjoying it, and it's defiinitely similar to the old version in a lot of ways. But unfortunately, I've found that the "get 4 items and then leave" thing in multiplayer is damn near impossible, even in classic mode. I have a hard time remembering where I set traps, where I have and haven't looked already, and so on. It leads to quite a few unwanted deaths and much frustration. Other than that, though...good stuff.

I heard a rumor that the PS2 version got canned. Can anyone confirm this?
Supposed to be out April 5, it didn't.
It is no longer on the PS2's upocoming releases list at EB.
It was never received by any store in the district.
Sadly all signs point to yes
