Hey guys,

I didn't want to waste board space and make this into its own thread, but I haven't been able to find anything about the Saturn version of Hokuto no Ken. As the title says, is the Saturn version the same as the beat 'em up PSX version, or are they two completely different games? I thought I've seen pictures of a fighting game version of Hokuto no Ken floating around, which is why I'm questioning whether the two games are the same or not. I'm hoping the Saturn version is the beat 'em up version, but I have no idea whether or not that's the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There were actually two Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) games that I can think of that fit your description. One was a beat' um up which came out around i'm guessing late 99 early 00 for the japanese PS1 and the other was a fighting game that was released on the saturn then later on the PS1. Hope that helps. :)

One of the Saturn Hokuto games is a fighting game-half comic book like the first Yu Yu Hakusho game on SFC. I own that one.

i got the damn ps1 FMV game. i can't tell if the footage is from the tv series, though it probably is (and not very bloody). the sega ages one for ps2 is supposed to be crappy but contains the original (which i own) famicom game. i'll probably get it later down the road. i also have one of the sfc versus fighters, the american HNK2 release, and the much hated/censored Last Battle.

Thanks for the replies guys. I wonder why they released the beat 'em up on PSX only, but the fighting game on the Saturn? At any rate, thanks for your help.

There could be any number of reasons why the Beat em up didn't come out on Saturn, but the biggest is timing I'd imagine. The beat em up didn't come out until 2000, by then Dreamcast was already in full swing.
