Whoops,

Didn't see that. Keep in mind though that some of the best shooters were never released in the US though.

Well, how about Ikaruga for the GameCube, then? It was released in North America...

you can search the online rarity guide, and the following style(s) you should prob look into:
360 degrees/shooter
fixed screen/shooter
horizontal scrolling/shooter
scrolling isometric/shooter
shooter misc/shooter
space combat/simulation
verticcal scrolling/shooter
good luck with those, there are a shitload of games under those catigories.

Well... Death Duel for Genesis is kind of like a Shooter... but not really. Also, I've never played it, but there is a shooter game called "The Hive" for Playstation as well.

Don't forget Atomic Runner and Atomic Robo-Kid for the Genesis. Only problem is, Atomic Runner is a bit wierd and unusual and on top of that mediocre and Atomic Robo-Kid... well, its TERRIBLE!

Since you did mention imports for the SMS, you might as well consider "Line of Fire."

If you got Thunder Blade might as well put in Afterburner

And if you put in After Burner, you might as well put in Galaxy Force...

Well, how about Ikaruga for the GameCube, then? It was released in North America...

This (Ikaruga) is a MUST own american release, there are so many out there but you have to get it.

Alot of the other ones I was thinking of were already touched on in this thread, if I think of any more I will post them.

Also Check out:

-Android Assault and Lords of Thunder for Sega CD. Two Solid shooters
-Sol Divide for Playstation
-Trouble Shooter and Target Earth for Genesis.

Trouble Shooter plays similar to Forgotten Worlds, while Target Earth is the precursor to Assault Suit Leynos on the Saturn as well as Cybernator and Metal Warriors on SNES
