I am going to get a Neo Geo AES system for sure and I hav a couple of questions

1) What are some games that I can get for under $30 apiece

2) Why are the Metal Slugs so fucking expensive and whats the cheapest one I can get?

Neo on the cheap = MVS

Check the Online Guide to find some of the cheaper AES carts. Generally it;s the earlier releases. I think you'll struggle to find more than a couple for sub-$30 though.

The early Slugs are expensive due to a) very low production numbers b) being very good, thus desirable, games.

Nuff said and no you don't have to get a "cab" either.

There are choices either get the MVS board and have, it consolized or hook it up to a Supergun.

If you have a choice a consolized or super gunned MVS really is the economical solution. If your heart is set on the AES then sometimes you can find MVS==>AES cartridge conversions, if you want any of the metal slug games (and don't have wads of cash) this is really the way to go.

Good luck man, BTW the NeoGeo CD though not without its (more than) fair share of problems might be worth considering, 'backups' might be a cheaper solution still (if you can come by them) though the load times are truely attrocious.

no one's mentioned the Phantom-1 convertor... it lets you use MVS carts on an AES system. They aren't that bad but need TLC.

No slug for the AES sells for less than $250. Just not going to happen. If you want to enjoy cheap neo geo goodness, MVS is just the way to go. AES is way too expensive.

There is no cheap, any way you look at it. I agree that MVS is the cheaper way to go, if you are willing to spend 250 to 300 on a supergun that plays MVS games or a phantom 1 converter(I just sold mine for 280). After loosing some blood and possibly a finger, it gets better....MVS games are usually under 30 bucks on the bay, just watch out for bogus pirates. Of the games I have bought for under 30 bucks, well, you are pretty screwed, If you count shipping, it will be very hard to find anything in that price range. You have to remember that Neo Geo is not your mainstream gaming machine. It has many exclusive titles, ones that have not appeared anywhere else. If your price range goes to 50 and under, you will find alot more titles on the cheap, includiing Magician Lord, Nam 1975, Samuarai Showdown 2(one of my favorites), to name a few.

If you are trying to go cheap on the Neo Geo, the cheapest is the MVS...but 300 bucks to get started is not cheap for most people.

It's cheap if you are lucky. :D

I use a Phantom adapter with my AES, and it's great. Not all AES's work well with a Phantom, but mine works flawlessly, and so does the one I'm giving away.

I buy some games on AES, but I buy the big money ones on MVS. It's allowed me to be playing Garou: Mark of The Wolves, Metal Slug 1 and X, Last Blade 2 and more.

AES and sort of cheap can be done, but you need an AES that works well with a Phantom. Any AES OSG services gets a free Phantom-1 compatibilty report. Then you can know before you pay $$$ for a Phantom-1 adapter.

How interested are you? I have an AES with a handful of games (mostly the cheaper ones? If you are interested and want more info. PM me. It's a system with two controllers, a memory card and 8 games. 4 games and the system have no box (That's how I found and bought them) unfortunately.

Why don't you use the search engine instead of creating a new thread.

I'm right behind Jibba on the emulation bandwagon for the Neo Geo at this time.

Can you guys fit one more crier around the corn flakes??

Well, since you don't really seem interested in any of the replies you've gotten, I might as well lock this. Nice try though.
