Today, I was cleaning a SMB/ Duck Hunt cart. It wouldn't play, so I opened it up and it was packed full of dirt. It got me thinking, What have others discovered, besides converters, lurking inside their games? Money, Drugs, Bugs?

There's an older thread asking the same question. IIRC, it included both drugs and bugs ;)

I've found former arcade EPROMs and the paper the game's label was on inside of Sachen carts.

I've had no end of ants in old Atari cartridges/speccy tapes but nothing really disturbing/satanic. Did hear a rumour once of someone who found a snake inside their computer. That must have been a brown trousers day.

There are only two types? By that do you mean living and dead?

There are pics of that out there somewhere.

I still think that guy who found a joint in his cart wins. The weirdest thing I ever found was a cheerio in an NES cart, near the contacts.

Found an as-is PS1 at a thrift once. Opened the lid to find a Madden disc from some year inside. When I went to remove the Madden disc I wound up lifting up the whole machine. A little bit of prying revealed that the shiny side of the disc had been completely covered with grape jelly O_O , which I guess explains how this thing wound up as is at the thrift.

Do you think something like that would still be fixable with a good cleaning?
(One of these days I'm going to have to ask you what's up with that sig.)

I've found a half eaten cookie in a toaster style NES. It got me wondering how it got in there. I could only come to two conclusions. A) Someone before me with some knowledge of the NES opened it up and was repairing it and either put the cookie in there as a joke or put it in there and forgot it. Or B) Someone at the factory some 20 years ago put it in there and it never left. Kind of funny though. And no, I didn't try to eat it.

Well in the last Famicom clone I picked up at a yard sale I found a ton of insect droppings, I mean it was COATED inside. As for just a normal cartridge I found what looked to be a sliver of moldy cheese inside a Genesis Virtua Racing cart when I was remounting the heat sink. Some like little hard candies at the bottom of a toaster NES, that's about it. Nothing else really stands out as it's mainly just dead bugs or soda.

Nothing neat found in a cart or system, sorry to say. But I did get a couple of Polaroid snapshots taken at the local nudie bar hidden in a used gamestore PSX Gran Turismo once.

Nothing too special, but I did find dog hair in a previously never-opened genesis controller.

The other day when I was replaceing bad back labels on my NES games. I found a Dodge car key in my Mega Man 2 cart. It has a always been a mystery as it's been heavy and very rattley. That's actually not a bad place to hid a spare key. Just don't sell you game to someone you know.

The only thing I consistantly find in both carts and consoles are the receipts where the previous owner bought the item new. Neat to see. Just picked up a 2600 console at a Goodwill...went to take it apart and clean it and found a receipt for some department store in Oregon (a Hills I think?)...and I live in Kentucky. It was dated 1980. I'm always finding receipts in these things.

A woman went out to a local computer store to buy a computer. The sales person told her that they would deliver the computer, set it up and give her some pointers on using it. If she had any problems later on, all she had to do was call their "Technical Support" and they would talk her through it over the phone or come back to her house to find and fix the problem. Months went by with no problems. Then one day, the woman called tech support...
SUPPORT: "Hello, technical support, how can I help you?"
LADY: "Last night my computer started making a lot of hissing noises at me so I shut it down. This morning when I turned it on the computer started hissing and crackling. It started smoking and a there was a bad smell, then nothing."
SUPPORT: "I will have a technician come over right away. Just leave the computer like it is so they can find the problem. Give me your address and phone number and a technician will be there as soon as possible."
When the technician got there, the lady showed him where the computer was and said what had happened to it. This is what the technician found wrong:
