Well I was doing some shopping yesterday at funcoland and ran into some moral dilemmas.
1. There was a loose Bubble Bobble manual sitting on the bottom of the rack, seeing that I have just the cart was it wrong of me to stick it into one of the other nes games I was Buying?
2. When buying loose NES game is it wrong to take the black plastic Nintendo sleeves off the 300 copies of Sm/Dh they have and put them on the games your buying?

Just wondering what everyone else does, and there thoughts on these.

My local thrit "Throws" lose box's and manuals in the bin :o

1. If I was buying the game that said manual was for, I would definitely slip it in, but since they were different I think I would bring it up and ask if I could have it. I don't think what you did is wrong though.

2. Absolutely not! I always make sure the NES games I get at Funco have sleeves.

1. No..you did the right thing. Chances are, it'll find a better home with you than in the trash when they throw it out after realizing they don't have the game anymore. That's what most places do.

2. Also right....the black sleeves must be preserved! Save them from SMB/Duck Hunt! :) I always swipe the black sleeves for whatever I'm buying whenever I get a chance. The only time you don't is if the black sleeves are holding manuals to the games.

My funco do's and don'ts:

Don't shop there unless you're getting an insane deal!

DO tease the clerks with obscure video game lore! One of my friends goes into Funcos and asks for stuff like Splinter Cell for the Supergrafx or Sin & Punishment for the Gamecube and stuff like that. The drones at Funco actually go and LOOK for the stuff in the back! The longest he's waited so far is 45 minutes while they looked around in the computers and in the back to see if they have any of the stuff, all the while saying "We haven't found it yet, but just hang on!" He he he :P

I'd say as a collector, it is your duty to do both of what you described. I do it all the time.

I can't believe they actually had a loose NES manual laying around. All the Funcos out here seem to throw those away.

All i know is there are a ton of gamestop stores in my area. This weekend they had a sale buy 2 get one free Genesis. ok well instead of bringing them up there all at once where i had a few 4.99 and 2.99 games, where they would have givin me the 2.99 free after buying 2 4.99. i would bring up there 3 4.99 at a time getting the 3rd 4.99 for free, pay for them and continue. She asked me why i kept going back since i had a stack of cash on me, i explained and she and the boss there agreed that that was a smart thing and they weren't annoyed.....at least not to my face. Sale was unadvertised.

But then i decided to go to another store, and did the same, but they were ringing up normal, i said, whoa, no the other store had a sale....they called someone and apologized, no one knew. So always ask about older used game sales.

Funcoland dont's: never trade a game for credit there.they sometimes will give you less credit for the game that you bought that you thought was going to get a lot for but, you get less.

Last time I was at a Funco i think they wanted to give me a quater in credit for either Abadox for the NES or Extreme G for the N64.

Do: grab all loose manuals. My local Funcos (all 3 of them) don't care and usually throws them out. I usually get them for free even if I don't buy anything else at all.

Don't: let the pimplefaced sales clerk talk you into buying something new, buying the overpriced cleaning kit, or even that useless warranty extension. My experience is that if you treat the system with respect and it doesn't fail within 30 days, it won't fail for years. Do get the warranty extension for DC though as some has failed rather easily.

Don't: Buy used GC/PS2/XBox games when *new* copies could be found at nearby Kmart for far less (Sad isn't it? Bankrupt Kmart still cheaper!) Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, and Meijer will also have better deal on new games.

DO: sell only the Suck Hunt/SMB as all other NES games will go for more on ebay than what Funco pays.

Dont: Sell the NES system for credit, they are paying way too low right now. Wait until they are up to $35 or better.

Only 220? I thought I heard 350. And I'm sure I know which local Kmart stores will close as there were 2 on the maybe list last year (one in Saginaw on M-43 near I-75, they're terrible, and one on Miller Rd. in Flint near I-75, they have so few games it's not worth visiting at all.)

Argh..wanted to perhaps get Donkey Kong Classics at my babagges..but it's $14.99..

Then again I did find out from a girl at the store that the assumingly large collection of NES carts that were at the Funco where the shameful shootings were at got transfered too.

Funcoland seems to only take in loose scratched games without manuals or boxes. Although they still want to collect the collector's prices of the games as if they were mint and complete. They had a USED Airforce Delta Storm for $49.00 and EB had it used for $54.00
I found Magic Knight Rayearth for Saturn at Funcoland once it had minor scratches on the cd and it was $35.00 so i was thinking, i need this one i'll reluctantely shell out the cash for it. He starts to ring it up and i said do you have the box for it, he says "No, we throw away the cases and manuals" A full colored, glossy manual in the trash? I just turned and walked away. I felt like giving him a backhand across the face and saying B>>CH, where's my money????
