full name of CastleVania DS revealed

Konami has announced

Akumajou Dracula: Sougetsu no Juujika

for a future release on the DS. The name roughly translates to :

Castlevania: The Cross of the Blue Moon

While Konami has yet to release details on the game, Sougetsu no Juujika appears to be the recently announced Castlevania DS title.

The name Akumajou Dracula hasn't been used since 1997. That year, Konami released Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku, also known as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, for the PlayStation.

actually gamespot was a little off about the 1997 thing...actually the last time "Akumajou Dracula" was used was in COTM for GBA...when Harmony showed up, then they finally used the American/European name in Japan

My god, where do they get these titles from?? Cross Of The Blue Moon...Symphony Of The Night...Aria Of Sorrow...Harmony Of Dissonance. I love the Castlevania series just as much as the next guy but they gotta do something about those names. They're too much for me.

Akumajo Dracula: Circle of fthe Moon was a GBA launch title... sometime after 1997.

I agree that the Castlevania titles are great. I do wish they would continue the musical theme, but there are only so many melodramatic themes they could use. I mean, Ballad of (insert name) wouldn't work very well would it?

Also, if you want the revenge of Jesus, watch Ninja Resurrection. It's a pretty terrible movie, but Jesus comes back as Satan and is a bad mofo.

It seems that Konami is wanting to connect the new Castlevania back to the first (NES) and best (X and SotN) of the series. I don't blame them one bit, alot of meaning can be taken from a title. Do you think SquareEnix would have the cajones to release a new Final Fantasy game and title it "Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest Online" LOL
(It burns me to this day that the Japanese release of Mystic was titled "Final Fantasy: USA" :angry: Ok, Back on track)

Anyway, I'll admit that "Cross of the Blue Moon" isn't stellar nor does it continue the music theme. It could be worse however, as many posts before mine have pointed out. I honestly think that the marketing/brand managment people use formulae to make these names up. Either way I'm buying this game, whether I have a DS by then or not.
