Recently Ive been rediscovering many of the old 8 to 16-bit games that I grew up with.
Games like Super Metroid @_@ The original Zelda and link to a past wich I never liked more than the 8-bit version until now O_O have all reawakened the Retro-gamer side of me. Even small niche games like battleship on NES I have enjoyed for some strange reason.
Maybe its all this talk and hype about pushing into the next generation be it Xbox next or PS3 or revolution.
Maybe its the fact that I for one am actually very satisfied and content with the current gen games and systems like no other time in my gaming life.
It could be the fact that I have grown tired of the natural progression of Having to buy a new Next-Gen console every 5-6 years I KNOW its for reasons like:
There was always a fairly large jump from generation to generation at least even the average person could tell the difference between atari2600 and NES and so on but now we have current systems that play our movies AND they ALL have great graphics yet companies like Microsoft WILL cut short their support for the original Xbox looong before its time.
Sure maybe you will still be able to play Xbox one online for a few more years but from all of the comments and press statements Ive seen in print and on the net Microsoft is now full steem on for the Xbox2 and wants to dump the still very viable and still very alive XBOX1l like so much dead wait.
Then theres Nintendo with all this Revolution talk. Dont get me wrong I dont doubt the big N completely its just that since they have lived in their own self-imposed exile world since the N64 days who know how thats going to turn out? I mean damn I cant even find any used Gamecube games in my area anymore because support has dropped down to a trickle for this great little system and I blame Nintendo for the majority of the reasons why the GC will die a very early death.
Then theres Sony. Why the hell didnt they just settle with Immersion like Microsoft did and be freakin done with it? I would like to ask all the Higher-ups and dipshit egomaniac CEOs at Sony if it was all worth it now?
I decided to stick with PS2 since it had the most games I enjoyed and still had the brightest future as far as longevity and 3rd party support goes.
BUT now that all might go the way of the dodo if Sony doesnt shape up and give Immersion a peice of the pie.
I know that in my area I havent seen ONE PS2 in stock at my local walmart or other gaming store for at least 3 weeks now. I know they are still selling them but its just intolerable to me that I see Gamecubes collecting dust and even new Xbox systems coming and going yet NO PS2's at all
I have over 30 games for my PS2 wich is only just now a year old but I know that I will have to replace it or get a back up (wich is what I plan on doing as soon as possible) because there is NO certainty that the PS3 will be backwards compatible :hmm:
Oh well I bet its just that these are great classic games with excellent gameplay and beautiful old-school 2-D graphics that make some of these overblown overhyped new fangled 3-D games look pale in comparison since this industry as a whole has lost sight of what built it back up from the ashes after the crash of '83 wich was Great WELL MADE INNOVATIVE games with excellent GAMEPLAY not wich system had the prettiest looking hooker killing gangster pimp daddy bling-bling graphics that has about as much depth of game play as a drunk horny Paris Hilton. :P
