A couple of nights ago I finished Metal Gear Solid 3: Snakeater after a 12 hour session (no alert/no kill game). When I went to sleep all my dreams were about Metal Gear or in the Metal Gear style even if they related to other aspects of my life. I dreamed playing new levels gameplay as if I were Snake and other situations in my life were elements in some of the dreams.

This kind of thing happens to me often, and after really long playing jags of a game I'm really involved in it's almost certain. I had Planescape: Torment based dreams for weeks.

Also, I've always dreamed about finding rare and nonexistent comic books in places like grocery stores and gas stations. I had one today actually about finding a "bad girl" version of a comic called Wanted. But since I started collecting NES I've also had several dreams of finding rare games in odd places. Oddly shaped gold NES carts and systems that never existed in places like bookstores.

So tell me about your gaming dreams?

No, seriously.

Frequently.
I had a series of dreams in Vice City...criminy, I think I was in every part of the city after a few nights. I'll tell ya, some interesting stuff happened under the bridge of the golf course...but that's pub material.
But i've had dreams in a LOT of games in the last few years....a LOT of games.hey, it's better than the dreams I used to have when I would either be killed, or be in some fucked up strange realm and be unable to find my glasses....

Tons. Back in my EQ days, I woke up a couple times trying to type and wondering why it wasn't working. I have lots of dreams where I save and reset.

I've had weird ones, like when I dreamed about the world map and first town of Final fantasy: Mystic Quest...months before I ever saw the game. O_O

All the time, too much in fact. What blows is it usually involves my video game retail job, rather than the game.

The worst one ever was the day back at GameShark where I had to review / FAQ Daikatana fo rthe N64. We rented it form a Blockbuster, so I had to cram in as much game time as I could in a single day.

That night my dream was from a first person perspective, complete with my little face at the bottom and health bars...and I could only see my hand.

Wacky stuff.

It's funny..
As much as I play games and usually right before I go to sleep,I don't have any video game dreams.

If I'm working on something like an Arcade machine (projects) and I fall asleep thinking about what I'm going to work on,fix or something needs to be created/bought then I may dream about that..
Sometimes waking up with the dreams thoughts still clearly in my head.

Gwahahaha........dude, I'm sure you know. During the Christmas season, I would work from 7am to 11:30pm and have to wake up at 5:30 or 6 am the next day to get to work. Did I dream of sugarplums and lolipops.........NO. I would dream about helping shitty ungrateful people, yelling at me. Or even just restocking shelves, or some such stupid thing!

For the past decade I have dreams of going to video game shops and finding super great finds for really cheap. Metal Slug 1, various Working Designs games, japanese imports, etc...

yeah all the time. The worst was just after Civ 3 came out. I would get angry when people would wake me up because "I was about to get modern armor".

More common these days are dreams where I find a NWC cart for 25 cents, or an unopened crate of Air Raid carts, or something like that :)

About Zelda (game/princess) when I was a kid back in the 80's.

I'd rather not go into the details, it was kind of risque. (Full VR famicom games would kick ass BTW!) LOL

I also swear I had a dream in the 80's where I was playing the exact future version of SMBRPG, but you probably just think I'm insane.

I swear I play games in dreams years before they see development sometimes.

Yeah but they usually don't involve a specific game or in a game world, just some part of the industry.

For example I had this one dream where I was at the local mall and went to where the arcade was, but the arcade wasn't there. Instead it was this dude that buys / sells games around here (kind of a local psudeo legend, Ziggy - you might have some NES carts with his name on the back, anyway). The arcade was set up like one of his "stores" with some crappy wooden shelving with a few games on them and his display cases of games. So I go in and look around and one of my friends from high school was in there aruging with Ziggy about the price of a copy of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. I used to import games for people back in high school (around 1996-1999) with this guy and one of our more popular titles to find for people was - you guessed it - Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

Anyway, it turned out that the copy that Ziggy had was some special copy with sentimental value to my friend, so Ziggy kept raising the price until it was like $200. I told Ziggy I wanted to buy the VirtualOn machine in the back and he wouldn't sell it to me. (I think this was influenced by the local arcade selling THEIR VirtualOn machine for a measley $300 about an hour before I came in that day to offer to buy it myself)

There's more to it but the whole dream was pretty strange. It was like a missmash of the past 10 years or so of my game collecting / playing / sales. :/

Hmmm, I had forgotten, but I had a dream where I was trapped inside the Smurfs game on Colecovision.

Strange, but not exactly frightening.

Yea.. I remember back when I got my SNES, I had dreams about Final Fight... Just playing it and such.. I couldnt wait for my birthday to unwrap my copy and play it with my best friend... only to find that it was 1 player and was missing a charactor.. the only char that I played on the arcade version :(

I had a fantastic dream about Unreal Tournament once. It was a map featuring a lava tube with no gravity inside. You jumped through the tube to reach another peice of land. Flying through that tube is oe of the best feelings I've ever had.

OTherwise, I'll have dreams about whichever game I'm playing at the moment. What is more common though, is for game to invade my waking thoughts. When I was playing Call of Duty, I found my self picking out places that woulf provide good cover. Playing WoW now, I find myself wondering what the auction values are for things I find laying aorund.

Oh, and I once had a Reef Dream. That was a nice one.

Uhm, having relationship/sexual dreams about video game character is the first warning sign that you're losing it! You need Dr.Phil or a jungian psychoanalyst! :)

my Sega Dreams never leave me...(not meant to be a plug in)...but just dreams of Sega everywhere.

Sega being the word of mouth again across the nation. Like it once was, dreaming of the day that Sega re-establishes itself. Releasing a new console.

So much more...I dream of the day when Sega becomes a convention annually. Atari has it, Nintendo probably will....yet the day I see a flyer for a SEGA-FAN CON....I am so there...

I picture rows and rows in a convention center, filled with every possible Sega creation to mankind...merchandise....Sonic goodies everywhere....an Arcade section with refurbished machines....Space Harrier...OutRun...Afterburner...Altered Beast...Golden Axe..Sonic the Fighters....Sega Sonic Arcade...Virtua Fighter 2.....etc....

Seeing thousands of men, women, teenagers, and children totally die-hard Sega fans at these conventions...just lined up...or buying booths to display their Sega wares

The other night I had a dream I was playing BF 1942 Desert Combat. Except I was in the game. I was really trying to capture flags and the whole bit.

I need to quit playing that game so much I guess :/

in one of my random psych classes we were taught that everyone dreams, but say 10-20% of people do not remember most, if not all, of their dreams

i happen to be one of those people....if i dream, which im sure i do, i dont know it most of the time

I think posting this thread made me have another video game dream last night. I dreamed I was in a pawn shop run by an overweiight Indian gentleman and I found a small stash of Gameboy games I'd never heard of.

The more I looked at them I realized most were actually for Game.Com or systems I didn't have, but there was an Avengers (the comic) GBA game with a 25 cent sticker on it. Despite the low cost I was considering just putting it in my pocket and stealing it, something I've never done, then the owner told me he had rows of comics in the back and as I was heading there the phone woke me up.

Not that I remember, but I hardly ever remember my dreams at all anyway LOL

And if I do remember anything, it's only for like 2 minutes. Then it's gone. Yes, I have a bad memory. :/

I know I've had plenty of dreams about games before, but the only one that comes to mind at the moment is the dream where I somehow ended up on a boat that was being attacked by hundreds of Dragon warrior slimes. Having no weapon, I proceeded to pick them up and throw them off the boat, only to have them keep climbing back up. Rinse, lather, repeat until I woke up. The weird part is that I hadn't even played Dragon Warrior the night before. :/

Yep, that was an interesting dream alright. I wonder if it had any sort of deep philosophical meaning behind it? LOL

I have two kinds of game dreams:

1- Finding something amazing for cheap. Usually it's something that I know in waking life does not exist (like 2600 Galaga) or a bunch of games I never heard of (so they must be rare!). There is almost always something that prevents me from actually purchasing the games. No money, no wallet, games behind a case no one will open, games are too heavy to pick up, etc.

2-Extension of gameplay. If I play a game right before going to sleep, I'll usually dream about playing the game.

I've also had a ton of video game dreams. Only if I play a game wayyyy too much (this happened with Final Fantasy VII many years back). The dreams are usually very confusing and sort of uncomfortable, and restless. I'm never quite happy about it.

I've also had dreams where I find weird, non-existant games, in crazy places. They are always ignored, like sitting out in a public lounge in a dorm, etc.... and I never know what games would be worth trying to take/buy, because I never have my guide in my dream.

That's right, I think about my DP guide im my DREAMS.

I have dreams about games all the time. A couple nights ago I dreamt that I was at my dad's house, and in his garage in the back, he had a bunch of stuff that he had found on a job or something. I went back there and saw all these shelves, and in them were around 20 or so NES carts, mostly Capcom games and other games I don't have (and some games that don't exist like "Mega Man 101"; I guess college is getting to me o_O ), and what I'm guessing was 50-100 different Atari 2600 carts. Of course, my dad didn't want them, so it was all claimed as mine. >) I was so frickin' happy. I was thinking "Whoa, instant Atari collection", since I don't currently own any Atari consoles. Then I woke up... and I was a very sad panda. :(

I can't guess on that, but if I know my Dragon Warrior, then in your next dream you will be attacked by hundreds of Drakees, then hundreds of Ghosts, then hundreds of Magicians. I'd dream about leveling up first if I were you.

As to the question: I used to have lots of dreams about great finds ("Reef Store Dreams" to the old-timers). Almost every time it involved finding weird import/pirate Atari 2600 carts no one had ever heard of before. Waking up was always strange, because I'd be half happy from my great find, and half angry that it wasn't real. :/ I hardly ever have those dreams nowadays... maybe because my real-life finds have dropped off so much.

I remember Dreaming about BEING in grand theft auto: San andreas- Even though i don't have the game! It didn't Seem like the game, though.. First i'm scaring people In a lobster suit, Then i'm in goodwill... With talking rats? O_O

I've dreamt of systems that don't exist. This "Atari Grape" Is wierd.

I've also dreamt of Big game hauls, But then i'm mad - While i'm still dreaming - Because i realise that i'm dreaming, And can't take the games with me.

Funny this topic came up.. I just had one last night!

Basically I was in an arcade and my my brother's friend was doing a trick I had never seen before in Ms. Pacman. All I remember was he did some kind of move which made 2 blank vertical bars appear cutting the maze into three vertical pieces. He then did some kind of street fighter move on the controller and the game reset and.... I think it went into some really cool 'trick' that of course I can't for the life of me remember (infinite lives?). I can't recall. Needless to say I was dumbfounded as to how I never knew of that trick.

You know how dreams are LOL

Well, in my earlier days, I was always creeped out by the images of Mabu from Rolling Thunder in my dreams. Usually, though, if video games are involved in my dreams, they're usually ones that don't exist, though are generally hard, and I inevitably lose them, in which case, some really scary image pops up, I scream loudly, and that's the end of the nightmare.

Goddammit, I hate my dreams. :(

Yeah...
When I bought Snatcher for the Sega CD I played it for quite awhile until I got hung up on the part where you must piece together a composite sketch using JORDAN's database. I couldn't find them match and I "continued" the game in my sleep--I remember hearing Metal Gear comment that "we need to keep trying"

Another time was years earlier when I bought Strider for the NES. But my dream was in full, 360 degree movie-like footage of the rush on the Kazakh installation (first level).

The last time was when I got ahold of a translated ROM file for Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon: Another Story (an RPG-lite)...I'm not sure what happened though...

Yeah, lots of them:

In one, I got an SNES and "Sonic World" for Genesis (It looked like a pirate)

In another, Mayl and I had to save the world from Dracula (I played too much
"Mega Man Battle Network" and "Castlevania: SOTN" that day), then next thing
I know, We where making out! :D

In one more recently, My SNES was stolen, and I go on a quest to get them
back (It was like "Dude, Where's My Car?", except it was "Dude, Where's my
SNES?")

I recently had a dream that Sega made a new official release for the Genesis. It was a new Sonic game called Sonic Invaders, and it was a Space Invaders clone with Sonic characters, instead of space invaders. It was really cool too. Dr. Robotnik flew across in the UFO, and the four barriers spelled out S-E-G-A!

When I was a kid around the time I had a Genesis and NES I constantly had dreams that I owned/found/ or was given a Neo-Geo Gold system @_@

I do remember many of those vividly since I would realize in the middle of most of the dreams that I WAS dreaming because there was NO WAY IN HELL that I could actually have a NEO-GEO in real life :( man those dreams were torture LOL

I still had a few dreams of finding a NEO-GEO at a pawnshop a few years ago but after I got a Sega Dreamcast most of my Dreams had been fullfilled (as far as gaming goes anyway ;) )

All the time. Well, maybe not all the time, but frequently enough.

Two NES dreams I remember:

In one, I was in one of the Zelda labyrinths. I could see myself top down just like in Zelda. At some point it switched to a first person perspective. And I went down a ladder to find a candle. Every so often, I would meet up with Link and we would compare what we had seen and where we needed to go. At point point, I was being chased by bad guys and they chased me out of the level.

In another, I was a reporter and had to interview Thomas from Kung-Fu. I would follow him as he walked along and beat up all the bad guys. When he reached the first level boss, I patiently waited and then attempted to continue the interview. I lost him when he went upstairs to the second level and I kept having to say "I'm press! Don't attack me!" to the enemies as I ran along trying to find THomas.

I vaguely remember that I've dreamt about playing videogames or even beeing in videogames several times. Unfortunately I can just fully remember one dream, the rest are blury.

But here we go: I once saw a black handheld console in the display window of my local easy cash store. I didn't have a clue what it could be but since it was cheap I decided I would buy it on monday (I saw it on Sathurday when the store allready was closed) and hopefully it would be something rare or at least uncommon. In the night from Sunday to Monday I've dreamt about getting in the store and buying that thing. It was a very realistic dream, the place was looking like in the real world and also the employees and all were the same. Unfortunately when I got to the store Monday after work the console was gone and I still don't have a clue what it was.

Two nights ago I had a dream where I spent $500 on Nintendogs, even though I know I didn't want it, and then I couldn't return it. Only in the dream it was for Gamecube.

I had another dream where I went into a thrift store and they had, like, every system I could ever concievably want to own, selling for next to nothing. They all seemed slightly smaller in the dream than in real life though, with the Turbo Duo R being about the size of a PSTwo, etc... I woke up before I could get to the cash register :/

EDIT: Then, in unrelated news, last night, I had a dream where Brent Spiner was killing everyone. THAT was random.
