The folks at Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com) suspect that it's a hoax, but I'd like to get your impressions of the site.

My apologies if someone has posted this before.

I'm kind of split on it:
A) It does seem a little bit weird for this to have poped out of nowhere and it reads a bit oddly. However...
B) It wouldn't surprise me one bit. Video games are an easy scape-goat for very stupid people to blame for violence, etc..

Hmm.. It doesn't LOOK like a hoax. The news stories they link to are completely real, as I heard/read them myself elsewhere previously... Have they tried emailing or contacting the site owners?

I heard about this last week on the IGN boards. The articles are down, so I couldn't see what the hoopla was as this was the beef many of the posters on IGN had. From what it sounds like, the articles were reminiscent of the "D&D will turn your kids into Satan Worshippers" propaganda from the early 80's. You know, telling you that there is research to back up their "facts", but not give any links to said research to add credibility.

I reserve judgement until I can see the articles. Without them, the site is harmless. Then again, what can I do except flood their e-mail box, just to have them hit SHIFT-DELETE on them if I DID have a problem with them. It COULD be a hoax, but the common moron may see it as real so it's just as bad if it is the real deal.

Penny Arcade is now concluding that MAVAV as a hoax.

The server for Mavav.org traces here:

drakhath.net [216.226.142.104]

To a devious clan site, no less! There are definately some good bits on that parody, it is my hope that they take a major media outlet for a ride with it. Answer requests for interviews, etc.
