I love Arcade Racers. But... I only have sega rally championchip for Saturn, outrun for Genny, and Outrun 2 for xbox.

Who can recommend some great Arcade style racers (not realistic, like Grand Turismo 4) for the Gamecube, Xbox, Genesis.

And if there's any this way coming, let me know about them too.

Thanks,
Dan

Xbox: Burnout 3, Outrun 2

BEST racing games ever!

Outrun 2's the only one I have, but I advise heavily, for it has the original Outrun on it as a bonus. You don't get the luxury of your seat moving as you steer, but it's a damn fine translation nonetheless.

There are a ton for genesis. Rock 'n Roll Racing, Top Gear, Micro Machines, man I have a ton of them...

Outrunners for Arcade/MAME. It rocks! Was it ever ported to a home console?

Burnout 3 is the best racing game i have EVER!! played. Also keep an eye out for midway arcade treasures 3. It is going to be loaded with arcade racers like Hydrothunder, S.T.U.N. runner, Rush 2049 and some others that i can't remember right now. But i know i will be picking it up on the day it comes out.

Awesome. Thanks for your recommendations. What about the gamecube? There must be some for it.

Indeed there are. I'm partial to F-Zero GX and Kirby Air Ride myself. I know they aren't traditional auto racing, but they're still a blast.

Burnout 3 is the Ultimate Driving game IMO
As for Gamecube i would say Mario Kart DD is a nice racer...
Im addicted to Road Trip Adventure for PS2 myself, cant recommend it enough!

If you've got a PSP, Ridge Racer falls right in that line. It's probably the best portable racer ever made.

Of course, it's no Burnout 3. Nothing is.

Burnout 3 def raised the bar when it comes to arcade racers, so it is a must own if you dig the genre (especially the X-Box version). If you have a Dreamcast check out Rush 2049. It is the best Rush game for a reason. If you have a PS2, you should have already picked up Sega Classic Collections. The Outrun remake on that disc is a fantastic little arcade racer.

On the PC I am playing the TrackMania Sunrise demo (http://www.trackmania.com). I don't really have an opinion on this one right now, since I haven't given it a lot of time...but so far I dig some of the concepts and the art direction (platform mode is interesting).

Burnout 2 doesn't match up to Burnout 3, but it's still pretty good and worth checking out as well.

Also, in Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild (PS2), you race a watercraft through a theme park. Sound like fun? It definitely is.

I second Midway Arcade Treasures 3. Stunn Runner will be the sole reason I'm picking this up.

Rad Mobile was awesome.

Most underrated driving game of all time, also the first appearance of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Really I can't recommend Sega Classics Collection enough, as Sosage said. You get remakes of many classic Sega games including OutRun. 3DAges basically left the original game play alone and threw in updated graphics. Also it contains the only perfect [enhanced] port of Virtua Racing for home play.

Agreed. Virtua Racing also has undocumented support for Logitech's Driving Force wheels. Mmm, force feedback Virtua Racing at home... :O~~~

i dunno if it's been mentioned yet </sarcasm>, but BURNOUT 3. jesus h christ, there cannot be enough good things said about this game.... the sense of speed, the thrill of taking down car after car after car.... the general awesomeness that is the crash mode...

even if it was just straight out racing, it'd still be the best arcade racer i've ever played, period.

On the GameCube, go for XG3 - Extreme G-Racing 3 (haven't played the newer one, Extreme G-Racing Association, AKA XGRA). XG3 is basically a futuristic motorbike arcade-style racer.

Hey, how good is the force feedback with your setup? I'm using the first version of the GT Force wheel (that shipped a week before Gran Turismo 3 - blue, no control pad on the wheel) and the force feedback is pretty much nil. It auto centers when I start up Virtua Racing and the wheel performs properly but I really don't feel any force feedback..

Yeah, there's tension when steering away from center but not much else. Somehow I remember the steering wheels in the arcade sitdown version of Virtua Racing could pretty much tare your arms off if they were turned up high enough. :-D Just wondering if you're getting the same feedback as me. It rocks being able to use the GT Force wheel though... ahhh, thank you Japanese 3DAges site for showing me the way.

Make sure you go into the settings and specifically turn on "Vibration" for the controller. I think it's off by default. Oh, and it doesn't really have complete support for the wheel, because the buttons don't seem to respond while playing. I have to change my camera with the Dual Shock, then grab the wheel and play. Other than that it works great, though. I don't think the force feedback was TOO intense, though it was noticeable.

I will also vote for Ridge Racer PSP. This kind of game kicks ass.

If you don't mind another Outrun, get Sega Classics Collection for PS2. Very cool remake of Outrun on there. Ignore the bad reviews. I'm having a lot of fun with this set.

Virtua Racing is on the disc as well, and it's awesome.

Also included is Monaco GP (not to be confused with the Sega Genesis's Super Monaco GP), but I haven't played it yet.

EDIT: D'OH, you were asking for Xbox, GC, and Genny games. My bad. :P Well, Virtua Racing is on Genesis, and even though (I'm guessing) it's probably not as advanced as the PS2 version, the gameplay is most likely just as good.

For GC, Road Trip Arcade is a lot of fun (if you can still find it).

Not sure if you have a Sega CD, but if you do, I remember loving Jaguar XJ220.

Seems to be this topic's concensus...

LOL I looked up and down for another post about the Sega Classics Collection. Man, my eyesight must be going. :)

But I edited my above post because he asked for Xbox, GC, and Genesis games.

Glad to see I'm not the only one enjoying Sega Classics Collection. It's fantastic! :D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Midnight Club, Rallisport Challange, Project Gotham Racing, and Midtown Madness series.

Also Need for Speed Hot Persuit 2 and the first Underground.

I know you didnt ask for this but FYI, Wipeout has been released for the N64, PS1 & PS2. They are all good. Need for Speed is always good and thats a multi-system one too. Ridge Racer is always top-knotch! I love arcade racers. Real is boring...arcade is the only way to drive!
