Some mother named her kid after the spokescharavter for Everquest. Now I'm a pretty big gamer, but have no intention of naming my kid Lloyd Irving (last name.) LOL

Well that child could have been Jermain (sp?) Jackson's kid. If that were to happen, kid's name would have been Jermajesty (sp?, again)

Firiona doesn't sound too bad if you didn't know it was from Everquest. Not like they had a Lord British or something. :P

I was expecting someone who paid alot for a rare game, and I was ready to start yelling at you but this is funny!
This kids whole life he has to remember how hes named after a false character. All his friends are gunna be like "I was named after my grandpa" "I was named after my dad" " I was named because my mom loved this name"
Then comes his answer.....
"I was based on some lame video game from 2003"
O_O Have fun with that......

Two questions here .. What the heck is "NM" supposed to mean?
And how does one manage to achieve negative Meseta (see Nez!!)
Quite an achievement!

At least that name's also a pronouceable word.
I was reading an interview with Robin-Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins. People have sent him the names of children concieved while listening to Cocteau Twins songs. He keeps a list, and has noted that many of them are dumb enough to name the kids after the songs. So, there's an "Aikea-Guinea" out there, along with a "Quiscous". Poor kids.

Not to be a jerk. But killing yourself wouldn't be a bad idea. :P
Seriously maybe Mario, but Zelda isn't a real name. I have never met anyone with that name.
I remember a penny aracde comic were some wife says
"your to addicted to those games, why dont you play with the kids"
then the husband says
"No im not! Ill talk the kids out right now, Mario, Luigi get in the car!"
Something along those lines...... funny stuff. This story reminds me of that comic.

Zelda is a real name... There's someone who was called Zelda Fitzgerald (who was an author I think).
I predict that there are gonna be other people who follow suit with the person who named their kid after the Everquest character. As long as there aren't any kids being called Sonic or Bowser, I think it can be acceptable though.

Me and my girlfriend plan on naming a daughter Zelda if we have one. It's an uncommon one, but it is a real name.
She's known a few people her age (21) named Zelda, so that means they were born and named years before the game came out.
Zelda is a nice name, just because you've never met anyone with that name doesn't mean it's stupid. I'm sure there are lots of people in the world who have names that are common to them, but you've never heard of.

I don't know, being named after a video game or video game character might be cool. Consider any of the following....
"Mega Man"
"Raiden"
"Kain"
"Azreal"
but then again you could be named...
"Metal Slug"
"Knuckles"
"Mr. Domino"
"Bubsy"
I always wondered if anyone has ever named thir kid "Q*Bert"

Zelda is a real name. <_< I knew that even at the time I was playing the original Zelda game.
It's not as common as it *once was* (because it was), but I've known a couple of Zeldas. And if I met a kid who was born after Zelda the game came out, I wouldn't assume there was any relation.
It's just one of those names that were more common 100 years ago, like Wilton or Lance or Eugene.
That being said, I already have a name picked out for my kid. Earthworm Jim.

I met two women that had named themselves "Wedge Antilles" and "Tycho Brahe" legally. It was on their licenses. They made me weep sad sad tears.
As for zelda, it's a real name, and one I'd consider regardless of the VG link. It's a neat name :)

Here's a website to someone named Zelda: http://web.cocc.edu/zziegler/
Zelda is the shortened version of the Scottish names Grizelda, Grizel or even Griselda.

I had an aunt (married to my uncle, who passed away) named Zelda as well - she's probably around 80 years old now or so - so she was definitely born long before that game was ever dreamed up. As mentioned, an uncommon name, but a name used nonetheless.

Actually, the women Adam was referring to were a lesbian couple. :)
The spooky psychic old lady from "Poltergeist" was named Zelda Rubenstein or something along those lines.
My manager's name is Terra, spelled just like the Final Fantasy 3 character. She's older than I am though, so there was no gaming influence there.
Locke would be kinda cool for a boy's name...

I knew a kind who went to my school named "Toby". O.K. not too bad, until you here how he got it. His mother (young African-American equal rights activist woman) had him in 1977 while the mini-series "ROOTS" was playing on TV.
Still doesn't seem so bad unless you know they story well and realize that the name "Toby" was made to insult Kunta Kinte and take away his ambitions to be free. She also had 3 other sons named Lahvenous, Latovenous, and Zy.
Very strange names, all so different.

"It's time for bed, Zero Beat"
I hate to think about it.

This all kind of reminds me of something...though it is a tad bit off-topic, I can't think of any other place to share it with you.
Anybody who's taken college level biology will learn that there is a hormone involved in early development called Sonic Hedgehog, which was indeed named after the video game character. Most of my professors have been clueless over the years with regards to video games, so when asked about this, they usually say "often with a lot of these obscure molecules, the labs will give them a nickname, and they often stick." Clearly, the PhD's and lab techs who discovered this one owned a Genesis.
