A quick question about the GameStop pelican Four system selector: Can you put an S-video signal IN (like, from my Modded 2600) and put it OUT to composite cables (Red,yellow, and white wires)?
It doesn't seem to be working... sound comes through correctly, and I have tested it on a TV that has s-video in, and it works...
Since that Gamestop selector doesn't have a power supply, can it not boost the signal? Is there any way to fix this?

It does not convert to Composite from S-Video as far as I know. It will convert composite to RF I think, but you need to use the power supply.

And I'm pretty sure there is no port for a power supply, nor did it come with one...
Is this thing not going to work, then? See, my TV only has Co-ax, so I use my VCR to put a Y/W/R signal through, which this puts out...
I have no S-video in anywhere.. but my Atari 2600 ONLY has S-video out.

Oh, I was thinking of another model. If all you need is an S-video to composite adapter, you can buy one or make one.

Hey, thanks! So... I wonder why that Gamestop selector doesn't just convert it for me? Shouldn't it?
What I mean is, this adapter you've pointed out doesn't seem to need a power source to "boost the signal" or whatever, so why should the selector need one? What a drag...

No, it shouldn't convert it, that would raise the cost and reduce the s-video quality because the chroma and luma are interacting.
Why did you buy an s-video 2600 if you didn't have an s-video tv?

Well, because I do have an S-video TV, just not the one I am hooking it up to. The main reason is because the 2600 generally comes with a bunch of terrible hookups that need to be connected under some screws in the back of the TV, which I don't have. Also, I just thought that it would be the best long-term Atari to have, considering that S-video will probably be on TVs longer into the future than other forms.
Plus, I got a good deal on it.
