I did a search of Jade Empire topics and was suprised not to find really to many topics, but I'm definitly really excited for this game, I have been a big fan of Bioware and the reviews so far have really got me excited even though the Demo was extremly short and dissapointing..

so what is everyone else thinking?
how do you think this game will be?

who's all getting it soon?

I know it's out on tuesday and im almost contimplating getting Doom 3 collecters edition first, because I heard that the first wave of Jade Empire will be Collectors Editions with extra character and fighting style

We will see.

Well any thoughts on the game

It looks like combat is like a beat-em-up. I haven't really studied the previews, but if that's the case, I'll rent it. I'll probably play it somehow anyway, but I won't buy it even though the limited edition has some nice stuff.

IGN has a glowing review up, giving it a 99%. Seeing as it comes from BioWare and it's an action/RPG, seems like a no-brainer to me.

I don't know, man. Bioware's stuff has historically been over-rated as hell. Given my history with Chinese Culture and Shenmue, my expectations for a martial arts RPG would be exceptionally high. Maybe, though.

It looks great. I'll be picking it up this week.

Definitely. I'm a big fan of BioWare, and the game seems to have a pretty intriguing concept

I have been reading about this game for what seems like years... well, ever since I first played Knights of the Old Republic.

I'll certainly get it ASAP... but probably not on release day. One thing I can't stand is going into some hellhole like Gamestop and hearing "Should've reserved it, dude..." when there are 40 copies behind the counter. Ugh.

I don't have many games for my Xbox but I'll be picking this one up for sure. When I saw all the ads for it I was thinking I woudn't but the reviews of it thus far have really made me want to pick it up. Sound like a game that would be perfect for me.

I would like to introduce you to a game called Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

...In any case, I'll be picking up this (and an X-Box) very soon.

I'd much rather play a new MDK game than one of Bioware's newer franchises.

I have no interest in Bioware at all, really, having never historically liked anything they sell. But after giving this one a play test with Microsoft back in October, I've got mine fully paid for already. Very stylish, combo-driven fighting, with summons and spells and flourishes. Some neat twists to the "choose a path" option of things too, because things aren't exactly good/evil. Example: You are asked to find a condemmed murderer so that he can be taken back to town to be executed. You find him in the lake, drowning. Do you save him only to bring him back to be killed? Do you let him drown? What would you do? ;)

I've been disapointed with lots of games recently and still enjoy Flashback and Prince of Persia (Sega CD) more than Cold Fear (Xbox) - these are my "games of the week after I gave up Myst IV due to incessant crashing of the game (quite annoying when you have to redo 2 hours of puzzles).

+ I have to say that past the first "whoa" factor my Xbox has been disapointing me for the most part - sure Burnout 3 is fun, Halo was great but apart from that I play games like Puzzle Bobble and Pinball Hall of Fame on it which I could very well play on Cube or PS2. The only reason which make me stick to the box is the HD compatibility and the fact that I should be able to sell it for more $$$ next year than now given that its a LE.

I'm also very interested in this one too. I liked KOTOR alot, and hope that they'll improve on it some more. The good thing about the early reviews is that the story is really good. That is really the only thing that I was worried about the most.

I'm getting kind of sick of playing the Japanese RPGs and think that Bioware has done some of the best non-Japanese ones to date.

It definately looks interesting, but I don't know enough about it yet to go out and spend $50.

I'm sure I'll get it enventually, but not until it's cheaper, and after I get and beat God of War.

Most definitely.

The content, characters, etc. is right down my alley. I'll probably get ripped for this, but I wasn't too fond of KOTOR's battle system. That being said, I still think I'll take a chance on this game since the content's more down my alley than Star Wars.

Unlike SamuraiSmurfette and DynastyLawyer, I love BioWare's releases and tend to pick up anything they release. I have all of the Baldur's Gates and Neverwinter Nights releases for the PC and they are simply great. Not sure how they can be considered overrated or overhyped. They both changed roleplaying on the PC. Additionally, Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic won game of the RPG of the year by several magazines for both the PC and XBOX. Some even made it their game of the year. To me, they can do no wrong, and I will be picking this gem up.

This game really does look great. I am very much looking forward to playing another bioware game. This should take the company to level Rare was at in the SNES, N64 days.

I really want to rent it first. I'm not a buy-before-try guy when it comes to new games. However, the game does indeed look excellent. I, personally, love RPGs that are real time combat (Or atleast when they're actually good). I also think the game seems really cool and unique, since you can learn many different styles of fighting, such as magic, and weapon fighting, and different types of martial arts. Very cool.

Hopefully this will be the first good RPG for the system, and not another upset...

*cough* Fable *cough*

Fable wasn't an upset.

You just got dragged into the hype, how much talk was going on. If I didn't hear a single thing about the game I would of been very surprised about it, and wouldn't of cared about what was dropped.

As for jade empire... I'm going to skip it, I don't think I'll see another RPG aside from fable in my little collection for xbox... XboX 2 looks like it has some awsome 3rd party support in that direction though!

Well, I for one didn't like it. I, like others, was hyped up about it. But even though it wasn't how I imagined, I just didn't like it. I tried to like it, but just couldn't. I found it extremelly boring.

I think this game looks absolutely fantastic. I've seen dozens of trailers on it and hundreds of screenshots. Looks like they really ate up a BIG budget with this one!

BioWare equals quality. I'm definately in for the Limited Edition version.

Much of the available media seem to suggest that a major component of the game is finding a shirt.
