I'm not an atari collector myself, so i didn't put in a sniping bid over 90$, the only reason i was watching it is because it'd be nice to own and the seller lives in my city so i could've picked it up. I guess the winner still got a good deal though, i'm guessing definately worth it if you're a serious 2600 collector.
The auction was at about 40$ until the sniping began 5 seconds before the end LOL
Any thoughts? I'm wondering whether it went spectacularly cheap or not.

The label is dubious to me. Plus the fact the seller didn't seem to want people outside of Europe to bid (and payment methods discounted Paypal). Probably why it went for not much.

Yeah i thought about that too, but why would someone ruin a perfectly good NTSC Quadrun to forge a proto? That's a pretty big gamble to take if you know only serious collectors who know their stuff will be looking at your forgery
Oh well, we'll never know i guess :)

Best Electronics sold many of these during the early 90's they all turned out to be fakes. Be wary of any Quadrun proto. Guilty until proven innocent.

This is indeed a Best Electronics 'proto'. They contain an original Quadrun PCB (no proto, but the released version) with a cheaply made - photocopied- prototype label. It's a cheap way to get a Quadrun of you don't mind the label, but i'm not sure if it's even worth that much...

That “loaner cartridge” label looks like a generic label that would have been put on many different Prototypes. If this is true why have I never seen anymore of these labels on any other proto carts. I don’t know about this cart looks a bit too new to me.

Well because this isn't an official prototype label used by Atari :)

That's because it is new... If i remember correctly these were sold in the '90s
