View Full Version : Gizmondo gets pop up advertisements...
Weird! Apparently, Tiger Telematics, the company putting out the Gizmondo, has decided to sell a version of their handheld system in the UK at nearly half price.
So, what's the difference between this Gizmondo and the full priced one? Two words...
STREAMING ADVERTISEMENTS :hmm:

sounds like a good idea for a discounted version actually
i still don't think it will succeed though, not with the DS and PSP and also PDAs about for its GPS capabilities

RedEye, you need to plug your new articles on the site more. You've done it sometimes, but everytime a new one comes up, start a discussion thread about it. I promise none of the mods will take offense. ;)

If it was half price.. I'd buy the sucker. I know someone will be able to hack the advertisements out of it soon enough.

I think for your Average Joe this will make his decision to buy a PSP/DS much easier. The rest of us can wait until it is hacked 8-)

It's basically spam on your gizmondo, but you get money off so why not? :D

Who knows? Depending on the delivery of the ads, this could be a very good way to go. If a tiny icon popped up during or between gameplay, great! But having the game interrupted completely for discounts on bandaids would REALLY piss me off.
That and it makes me nervous that advertisers would be able to pinpoint my EXACT location in the world. Spyware on a whole new level O_O

In several months, the non-popup version of Gizmondo is going to be half-price anyway. But once you get the popup version, you're stuck with it for life.
