I just can't do it again, I raided Circuit City after Circuit City last time, bought a ton of games....I just can't put myself through that again.

I was stressful, it was a pain in the ass, and as much of a cheap ass as I am, something is telling me to run now to all the Circuit City stores that I can find...but I'm just not going to do it this time.

NOT. THIS. TIME.

EDIT: GAWDAMN THIS THREAD IS TAUNTING ME. Something in the back of my mind keeps saying "go...you've lost your passion.....go! go! go!" but I know I haven't lost my passion, it's just a pain in the ass, and I'm broke....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Most of the games on this list were already part of the $4.99 sale last year so I would be surprised to find any in most CC stores.

I can understand that. Last time I went their were tons of people running around with list and not all of them were very nice mostly too the people who worked there but also to the unfortunte people just shopping for video games that had no idea what was going on. Still though thanks for the heads up I'm sure some poeple will get a couple of cheap games out of this.

Slightly OT: is anyone else finding the CC in your area dissapearing? We used to have 4 in Indy but when I last needed to go to one, 2 have shut down. Just wondering if that's just a here thing, or is the chain in trouble?

Must just be in your area cause a whole new one was built in my neck of the woods about 6 months ago.
Anyways, thanks for the heads up Big Papa Husker. Although i'm pretty sure most of the titles listed are long gone now in my local store, i'll still keep an eye out for Fur Fighters and Silpheed.

I just got back from my CC, and they had several of the listed titles.

1) Most of them had the "value deal" barcode on that eliminated them from the deal.
2) The 2 I found and was interested in, that didn't have the special barcode did not ring up at $1.99.

Obviously, YMMV

Yes just make sure that the upc on the game's box is not covered with an additional upc sticker and it should work.

Ehh...nothing on that list is all that great, IMO. Except for La Pucelle Tactics, which is a freakin' steal at $2. I paid full price and don't regret it at all. I-Ninja is a fun little game too.

I just called the Cleveland area stores, and they always act like they have no idea about these sales (they did the same for the $4.99 sale and i got $500 worth of stuff!) but they did say they had most of the games on the list. I can't amke it up tonight but others in the area might want to try it out. Print out the list and take it with you, thats what i always do!

Lots of them at my local store didn't ring at $2 each but I did get 5 PS2 games (SW: Bounty Hunter, Frogger's Adv, Batman, Cat in the Hat and Bombastic) Bunch of the guys that work for me are scouting the other stores for me :) First phone call just now - I got 3 more games off the list if they ring up at $1.99

The only one in my city closed 2 summers ago and the closest one is 50 miles away. I am still contemplating driving there... but after TRU sales I have no cash. :(

I just got back from the one in Lincoln, NE, which is the only one left in Nebraska I believe, and I couldn't find anything that was on the list. When I asked about it, they just kinda stared at me and said they knew nothing about it and that the people that have been getting the games at $1.99 are taking advantage of a price glitch...   Why are these employees so dumb?

It is a price glitch, you have to remove the sale barcode to get the regular barcode scanned.

How exactly are they dumb now?

How is that a glitch? People were saying La Pucelle was ringing up fine and there wasnt that extra scan bar.... What are you talking about dude?

Taken from CAG...

Did they have those value UPC sticker over the regular UPC? If they were $1.99 normally or not, they would still ring up for $14.99 if they had those value stickers.

LPT may be an exception, but the majority of these games are set to come up as 14.99

Don't know if this sale is still on, but the date of the original thread on CAG was 4/10/05 so

Everything rang up for their own respective original prices (ex. $14.99, $9.99 etc. )

On a related note (kinda, but not quite), I recently found a brand-new, sealed copy of Beyond Good and Evil (PS2) for 10$ at a local Radio Shack (as you may or may not know, Radio Shack Canada is now owned by Circuit City).

I checked the CC near me and found almost ten of the PS2 titles. Unfortunately when I had the prices checked, none were discounted to 1.99, they were still at 10 -15 bucks. *sigh*

I have never met anybody in any other store who sell games and don't know shit about them. sorry if anybody here works at CC. but this is what it's like by me.

How far away are you from North Attleboro? That's fairly close to Rhode Island and the CC there has a fairly large selection of games. Hell, last year I was able to find brand new copies of both Breath of Fire 3 and 4 for 5 dollars a piece.

I should go down to Kansas City, they have like 4 CCs down there.

the only game i found at my local CC was jet grind radio for dreamcast. CC sucks they never change prices so you have to ask the right price on a game. oh well i guess 1 game is better than none.

Trust me, You weren't missing much. I went down to the local CC for a copy of Slipheed and Furfighters but they still rang up as 9.99.

Slipheed and Fur Fighters were also 9.99 at my CC as was Omega Boost for the PS1 but I did get 14 other titles for $1.99 each.

I'll post the list in the weekend finds thread for those curious to see.

...please do, it would be very helpful!

I went to a CC two days ago, and I let the guys check two games on the list: both Haunted Mansion and Fur Fighters rang up at the regular prices; so I didn't bother to look for the other games listed.

Too bad, for two bucks a piece it would have been a nice sale. :)

On the other hand, I found a week ago Space Channel 5 for the DC for one cent there, not bad. :)

Not defending the business, I work for them but have no attachment to them like some employees of other stores do, but I thought I'd clear a few things up:

The store communication is REALLY REALLY POOR at Circuit City stores, and generally people are just lazy. Case in point: We get markdowns every Friday (well, most Fridays), and the merch manager or whoever is supposed to print them out in the morning and give them someone to do quickly. Does this work out? No. Half the time the merch manager fails in this and it's up to a regular employee in the PST (games/movies/mp3 players, etc, basically the middle of the store) section to print out this list and get it done if they remember. Markdowns are a hassle. At least at my store. The price guns run out of stickers and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I have EVER asked for them, no one in the store, from the folks working customer service to the store manager himself knows where they are. Then one day they miraculously show up in the gun in the drawer at our registers. Hand-tagging works alright, but it's REALLY bothersome when you have 3 sheets of markdowns (pc games/console games/dvds) to do, even if you only have 5 or so of the title in question (typically it's more like 15, at least for movies). This means hand-tagging is generally more effort than most are willing to make, though I've done my share of it.

Also, as far as the game clearance goes, you, the informed consumer, glued to your cheapassgamer, generally find out before we do. This was certainly the case with the big $4.99 sale. We were told it started "X" date. Okay, cool, whatever. BUT, come to find out, it doesn't start "X" date, as the guy in my store with a huge printed list informs me, they're already ringing up cheaper, despite what corporate says. This is why you saw so much confusion, pulled clearance games, etc. back during the big sale: corporate caused a fiasco by starting it early and the cheapassgamer crowd caused a flood with all of their salivating over mediocre $5 titles (for the most part). As far as this new $1.99 sale, as far as I know, it was never mentioned to the employees. I never got an email, nothing was mentioned or posted, it just sort of happened and we're left to deal with it, better or worse. Thankfully, my store had about 3 of those games in stock, as most were long-gones from the big clearance, so the headaches weren't a fourth of what they could have been.

Hopefully that gives you an inkling of insight as to what it's like "on the other side" of all those great cheap game deals.

I found a Tomb Raider/Skydiving PSX 2 pack
BG&E for GC
Magical Mirror Staring Mickey Mouse for GC
Hulk for GBA
Some Harry Potter GBA game
X2: Wolverine's Revenge for GBA
Pinball of the Dead for GBA
Jampack 11

All were $1.99 each

I also bought a Xbox Powerdrone for $4.96

Unfortunatly I did NOT find a La Pucelle Tactics for $1.99, but I found one at TRU for $7.98 so I can't complain.

Me and a friend just found Batman:RoST for GC at the North Attleboro store. They had three, the cashier guy had to check with his manager to confirm the price, but he ok'ed it and then grabbed the last for himself. Nothing at the Warwick, RI or Seekonk, MA stores though.

I just checked one in another town and nothing could be found. In fact, the manager walked by and saw my list and said that most of the games have already been gobbled up... I couldnt find anything except for some that had the UPC sticker... DAMN THINGS!

Yeah the value game stickered games on the list are plentiful in every CC. This was a weak sale but I still bought about 10 unique titles for the collection. It was still miniscule compared to the first $5 sale.
