This series of games is my most favourite series of all time.

My first experience with goemon was on the mono gameboy when i pestered microbyte into importing me a copy. I was totally hooked it just dripped japanese culture & madness, i spent hours playing the minigames in the shops & bursting into the womens section of the sauna to see those little ladies scream & grab for a towel.

When i finally got a super famicom i managed to get hold of all the goemon games for that & i found out they were just as mental as the gameboy versions. My favourite been goemon 2 where i got to control inpact in mode 7 battles it just didnt get any better.

Over the years i have nearly obtained every goemon game there is for all nintendo systems, just missing 1 gb game (wont get it as its shit) 1 gba game (same reasons as before) & 2 famicom games.

I've played the N64 games and loved them both. I really want to try out the SNES version...and I really really hope they bring the DS version to the US.

Thats a nice side collection you got going there.

Oh wow! Cool collection of Goemon games you got there! I am extremely jealous of you right now and only wish my collection of Goemon/Mystical Ninja stuff was that big. *Sigh* some day.

That being said, yeah, I do like Goemon. ALOT. The first one I remember playing was of course "Legend of the Mystical Ninja" for the SNES way back in 92 or 3. Although my real love for the series started a couple of years ago when I was able to snag a complete copy of Ganbare Goemon 2 in a trade and loved it. Since then I have only gotten Mystical Ninja for the N64, but have seeing this thread maybe I sould go track down the other games. How much sould they run me? Around 30 to 40 US dollars a piece?

Yes. I must admit the Goemon collection is quite nice. I remember playing The U.S Legend of the Mystical ninja and was enthralled at the sheer fun and over-all brightness of the game. I am in the process of Getting all the Goemon games for the SFC.

I'm a HUGE Goemon fan. I've been a fan ever since I first played Mystical Ninja for N64, and when I learned there were a bunch more of his games released in japan I knew I had to have them!

So far I've got:

SNES
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Ganbare Goemon 2, 3, & 4
Soreyuke Ebisumaru (puzzle game starring ebisumaru)

N64
Mystical Ninja
Goemon's great adventure

I really want to pick up the rest I'm missing. How are the PS1 games? I'm also planning to pick up the DS version as soon as It's released. It looks freakin' fantastic! If only konami would release more Goemon games here....

I like the second n64 game that came over an awful lot.

I have been a fan for years but honestly just haven't put as much effort into playing them as I should.

I love the Goemon series. :) Goemon's Great Adventure is one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. I really dig the first N64 game too, but I haven't gotten around to putting some serious time into it just yet.

The only Goemon imports I have so far are Goemon 4 for SFC and Ooedo Daikaiten for PlayStation. Both are great fun, and I'm eager to add more of the Japan-exclusives to my collection in the future. :)

It's nice to see that im not alone in the appreciation of goemon :D

There are quite a few goemon games for the playstation but only a few of them are any good, i tried to like them all i really did but they just play badly.

The good ps1 goemon games are....
Ganbare Goemon: Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu
Ganbare Goemon: Ooedo Daikaiten

The bad ones are...
Ganbare Goemon: Kurunarakoi!
Goemon New Age Shutsudou!

Goemon New Age Shutsudou! it's truely appauling they released it for gba & playstation & both of them are nasty to play they look & feel nothing like goemon games. God knows what they were thinking when they made this game

Suprisingly the ps2 version of ganbare goemon isnt that bad if you can get over the way konami turned him into a more human looking character..

Over the years each different division of konami has been in charge of making a goemon game some did better than others but the very best of the goemon games appeared on the super famicom & gameboy.

Also beware of one truely terrible goemon game on gameboy called..
Ganbare Goemon: Kurofune Tou no Nazo

It looks like a goemon game but it feels nothing like one it has appauling collision detection plus the boss battles are a complete joke. You have to make your way through a unfairly difficult level only to be confronted by a boss who will challange you to a minigame that involves bashing the A & B buttons as fast as you can, however if you fail to win you have to do the whole tedious level over again.

To be fair out of all the 22 games he has been in only 3 of them are really bad.

I guess I got lucky with Ooedo Daikaiten then since I pretty much just picked it at random. :P

I totally agree with you on the New Age games. I haven't played either myself, but they look really lame. They basically got rid of everything that made Goemon appealing in the first place. I'll never understand what on earth possessed them to turn Ebisumaru into a kawaii girl with a baka-hammer. >_<

What do you think about the anime or games like Gokujyou Parodius where Goemon makes a cameo? Are you into or collect those too?

Are any of the ps1/ps2 goemon games 2D? If any of them are souped 2D games w/ similar playstyle to the SFC ones, I'd say those are a definite must buy.

Well, Ooedo Daikaiten is definitely similar to the SFC games. It's got some 3D elements to the backgrounds and such, but movement is sidescrolling. The characters are sprites (not unlike the sprites in Rare's games like Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct), and the map is completely 2D. The only really "modern" thing about the game is the 3D Impact battles, which have surprisingly sharp and nice 3D graphics for PlayStation.

Big thanks for the heads up. :) I'll try to find a copy.
