One of my first games was Mega Man 3. I loved it! The music, Gameplay, endless levels. I was immersed. The nintendo ones will always be my faves and will be what I consider Mega Man.

Anybody else?

Mega Man 3 is my favorite as well, mainly because it's the one that I've played the most. Used to rent it all the time at Blockbuster. Would've been nice if Capcom or Sega brought The Wily Wars (an updated version of Mega Man 1, 2, and 3) to the U.S.. Only way I got to play that one was on the Sega Channel. My least favorite Mega Man right now is the 2nd one, mainly because I'm always ending up on the short end of the stick at Dr. Wily's castle.

Mega Man 2 was the... third game I ever beat, after Mario 2 and Duck Tales. I was a diehard Mega Man guy for many years. Probably some of my most blissfully happy moments were when a new Mega Man came out and I sat in the car on the drive home, reading the instruction book in eager anticipation.

There's this import Mega Drive game that reminds me a lot of Mega Man without the "boss ability stealing" part. It's called Pulse Man, and it's really fun. Not hard, and it has one of my favorite 16-bit soundtracks. Not many people know about it, but I'd suggest it to any import fan, or... you know, to download.

And actually, Mega Man 2 isn't all that hard, with the exception of the Quick Man stage. So if you want the easiest Mega Man game, that's it right there.

I've gone through all the NES and original GB MM games, along with 2 of the X games on SNES. Legends was the last one I tried (except for the arcade MM in MAME), and I believe I got to the last boss and gave up (it was a rental and had to go back). Yes, MM holds a special place in my heart....the first two NES games are dearest to me. I used to be able to beat both of them on 1 life. :)

Mmyep...pretty safe to assume that I like Mega Man as well. :D

Heh, I could try to explain my love for this series, but I don't think there are enough superlatives in the english language to describe it's brilliance.

Mega man 3 is most definitely the pinnacle of the entire series, and IMO, the bar by which every other action game should be judged. Simply put, It's perfect.

Welllllllllllll... my opinion on the Blue Bomber is a bit complex. Granted, I will always have a place in my heart for him, although these days, he's... well, a slight tad stale. But Mega Man is a classic in every sense of the word.

I loved the original game, but there were a few things about it that I thought could have been improved on (slightly titchy controls and nearly impossible jumps). Then, of course, MM2 came out, and I fell in love with MM, having fixed everything that was wrong in the first game and bringing us pure greatness. MM3 was also great, and is still my second favorite below MM2, loaded with great level designs, graphics, sounds, the works. It just lost a very few points for being a bit too similar to its predecessors in some areas, but MM3 still ruled. The problem was that every new game gradually lost points for an increasingly apparent lack of originality. Despite this, I am very fond of all the original series MM games (yes, even MM6, although Tomahawk Man and Yamato man broke the boundaries of ridiculousness). This also includes the Game Boy titles, and MM5 for the Game Boy is actually one of the best games of the series. Back in his heyday, M to the M was really something.

Then Mega Man took on a life of its own and spawned a new culture: Mega Man X. I loved the first game, as it was indeed considerably different from the original series. But all sequels, no matter how many improvements they intended to make, just didn't define each new MMX game as groundbreaking. Despite this, I still really liked MMX2, MMX3, and MMX4... though, I wasn't wholly crazy about MMX5, and I stopped buying when MMX6 came out, having heard nothing but crap about it.

Now, the original series is still the best, but Mega Man Legends held promise. While it almost didn't seem like Mega Man, it wasn't supposed to, and despite quirks here and there, it was an enjoyable action-adventure title. I can't say much more, not having played MML2, but I liked the first one.

... then came Battle Network, and I realized that MM had gone too far. I apologize, but BN just rubbed me the wrong way. I was willing to give it a try, but I realized "... this isn't Mega Man." So, now, I think the series has jumped the shark by going into realms that I don't think it should have. 'Course, I am a bit biased against RPGs. :P

So, yes, I do love Mega Man, but not what he has become. I'm also rather pissed at Capcom for placing 90% of their market focus into Mega Man and Street Fighter nowadays, both series I really like, but may just be a tad overrated regardless. Still, Mega Man is one of the most influential characters in the universe of video games, and NO ONE can refute that, not even if they begged like Dr. Wily to differ.

I see no connection, this man is insane! I do not know him!

Mega Man/Rock Man....what's there to say? The Blue Bomber never fails!

my personal favorite was Mega Man 3 as well, I used to love Mega Man 4 the most because it was the most bizarre, had the Russian theme going on with Dr. Cossack, and the first time that Dr. Wily wasn't the brains behind it...(or so we thought..)

Mega Man 5 on the other hand, that one rocks the house, ProtoMan the man behind the plan? too classic

Still to this day the best endings for Mega Man games is Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 3. So well thought out imho

My favorites are Mega Man 2-4, only becuase they are the only three that I have for the NES. If I had the full spectrum of games I might be able to choose the best Mega Man game, but out of the 3 I got, I like 3 the most as well. Must go on the add that I have never beat any of them, pretty close on 3 though. X_x

Yeah i have to agree with you all on Megaman 3, however i feel the first Megaman X was a good one too...

Ive always been a huge fan of platformers and found this one of the only platformers that is actually challenging.
Agree or Disagree, most platformers nowadays are quite easy... Maybe thats just my opinion, and i do liek a good challenge

Actually Pulseman is one of the most impressive last batch of Megadrive imports ever to be released.

@Cauterize, you should see Master Fighter, he has a customized T-Shirt of Pulseman, looks badass.

No, I have an extreme hatred of megaman and everytime I hear of the term "Blue Bomber" it makes my stomach turn....

Are you nuts! I mean, which member of this board is actually going to say they HATE the Megaman series? That would be blasphemy. The series is almost godlike in the platform/action genre. Everything from the original series, to the X games, and even Command Mission and the Legends games were good and had a little something for everyone. So yes, to awnser your question, I do injoy Megaman in all his forms.

Mega Man is one of my favorite Fanchises... first one i beat was MM 1, got to Ice Man and had to go to school, and just left the NES on :D Recent years Mega Man has lost my intrest with the X series... freaking 3-D, MM to me will always be a platformer in 2-D. MM Network series is okay, but Insanily hard on the GameCube. My Favorite Mega Man will always be Mega Man X3.

Mega Man X (the first one) is a good game too. Haven't played it since being beat down by Sigma, or the boss before Sigma. I can get past the Mavericks without much of a problem. It's a certain stage in Sigma's Fort that I always have problems with.

I could hardly stand that weird control system thing in Wiley's castle that you have to blow up with Clash bombs.

By the way, any fans of The Misadventures of Tron Bonne? ;)

I agree, I thought the Main Control boss was a pain. Some people can do it on one try. I usually destory the walls, then die, and return while charging up.

Which reminds me. Does anyone remember how it took before Crash Man became Clash Man? (Bad translation it seemed)

I thought I had Mega Man 2 for years....until I played Mega Man in Wily Wars for MegaDrive....all the classic cheap tricks you can pull off...forget it...stronger bosses and Wood Man is vicious..(You can't use clash bombs anymore on him)

I've always loved Mega Man. :-P I started out with MM1 and was addicted ever since. I spent so many hours finishing MM1. Theres no energy tanks. No passwords. Its rough.
One thing I hate: there is that one part in Mega man 2 where you fight that friggin dragon in one of Wily's stages. I must have used up a hundred lives there!

The Dragon robot boss in the first Wily stage in Mega Man 2 is pretty simple, if you know what you're doing. The one level I hate is in the 2nd or 3rd Wily stage, involving those turrets.

Mega Man 2 is my favourite but I gotta say, I just do NOT get the love for MM 3. MM 1 is great, 4,5, and 6 are okay, but 3 is just stale and uninspired to me. It's the lowpoint of the NES MM's as far as I'm concerned and I've been through them all many times. I rank them like this (from best to worst): 2,1,5,6,4,3.

I love that Dragon Robot boss, quick boomerangs do the trick... ah, that's one of the best games made.

I love the Mega Man series... and pretty much everything else they have done. Even the Battle Network is amazing if you ignore the Pokemon-ness of the colored last games. That's stupid.

Mega Man 3 is probably the most perfect of all of them, and Mega Man 2 is my favorite.

Of the X series, my favorites are 1 and 4, they are terrific.

Even the Zero series, while frigging impossible and crazy, are some of my favorite GBA games. I know there are some crappy offshoots (notably some of the newer stuff), but Mega Man is one of the true ultimate classic videogame characters.

MM2 was my first one and loved the series since. First MM game I owned was 3 and then eventually got MM1 and 4. MM 3 seems easies tto me, probably because the password system makes it easy to start off anywhere in the game up to Wily's Castle, along with starting with any number of Energy Tanks.

But wait, you can do that in MM4-6 also! Sorta, the "final code" in the later game sonly saves your progress up to the first castle, but not ETs like before (if I remember right), so once you make it through the first castle to Wily's, you're stuck with as many ETs you got left unless you really spend the time to try to get some from enemies or find them.

The X games I love also, though farthest i ever got in X1 was Sigma's Place, never did beat the guy. X2 I forget, I think the 2nd time you fight the 3 agents holding Zero's body parts. X3 is just insane! I have X4 and love it, though Zero's game is certainly a challenge and a pain in the ass to boot.

Not raining on anyone's parade or anything, but I'd really like to know, what is so great about Mega Man 2 that a majority of it give it the "we're-not-worthy-holy-grail" treatment. Since I've beaten Mega Man 2 so many times not to notice any elements I'm missing a few strings on that.

Cool to see other people have heard of Pulseman.

As for Mega Man 3, the thing that stands out about that game the most for me, aside from the fact that I think it's kinda difficult, are the four stages that you fight between the original eight bosses and Wily's Castle. Where they have hard versions of four of the stages, and at the end, you fight the ghosts of the bosses from Mega Man 2. To me, that added a kind of "whole package" deal, where I felt the game was a suitable sequel to Mega Man 2.

It was after 3 that things really kinda got stale. Although at the time, I was young and didn't really care. I got 4 and 5, and loved them both. When 6 rolled around, I was already hooked on my SNES, and that's when I started to look at Mega Man and go, "Gee, video games are advancing and Mega Man still looks exactly the same. He's kinda stale."

Of course, I got Mega Man X and loved it all over again, but I could tell Mega Man was getting repetitive by that point.

Mega Man IS the symbol of stagnation in video games. Well, that and Street Fighter, both of which are made by Capcom probably uncoincidentally. People who complain about Madden releasing the same thing every year had better not be Mega Man fans, or else I'd have to say that's a pot/kettle/black situation.

But it's still absolutely solid, addicting platforming action. Not a year goes by that I don't get the itch to play some Mega Man of some kind.

My opinion on the other series (BN, X, Legends, etc.) is that even when Mega Man is at his worst, he's still pretty good. Sort of like that bumper sticker about pizza and sex.

Might be the fact that it took what people loved about MM1 and extended on it- 8 RMs instead of 6, better music and great graphics, especially the larger Dragon and Gutsdozer bosses.
