View Full Version : How many versions of Ocarina of Time is there?

There is one with blood during the Gannon fight and chanting during the fire temple right? Now, is there a version with just blood or just chanting, or did they cut out both of them during the second run? Basically, is there 2 or 3 different versions?

As far as i know, there wasnt any blood in OoT... There are 4 version of Ocarina of time: N64 Grey Cart, N64 Gold Cart, GC OoT, and GC OoT Master Quest. As Master Quest and the Gold Cart are the hardest... and the Gold carts are slightly more rare, IMO.

Actually 6 were exactly made (Don't forget the Zelda Collector's Edition release on Cube and there is a bizarre Grey Cart version that acts just like the Gold Cart, which I had once). I made a post about this last year to tell the differences between the Gray and Gold Cart

The Gold cart version has some funny glitches and tricks you can pull off according to gamefaqs.com

Plus of course, Ganondorf coughs up RED blood when you defeat him (before he transforms) and when you slash at him for the final hit

While in the Gray cart and the re-release Cube ports. Ganondorf's blood changes to green....lame...

I thought there was also a version that had monk chanting during the fire temple that they had to cut out because people got pissed. Am i wrong about that?

what exactly is the 'gay cart'? LOL

anyways i never would have thought that LOZ would have blood in it! :eek 2: (i haven't beaten OoT) but green blood? c'mon, that would look like he's barfing...

and gold/colored carts are definetly more collectible.

What about the 64DD version of the master Quest? Or are you taking US release only?

Since Zelda URA was a beta, I don't know if that would actually count, but for the sake of this thread, let's throw that in as the "7th" Guest....

Was "Ura" (master quest) ever been released in 64DD? I think not...

Oh and I had the grey cart that had monk chants in fire temple and red blood...

Yup, that's the same grey cart verison I had.

As for Zelda URA. No it was never released, rumor has it, this 64DD was given to close employees to Nintendo during that Christmas. Yet that was an old story from 1999 and I don't know if it's true or not.

No, you're not wrong, from what I heard. Sometime ago, I read somewhere that they took the "monk chants" out in the Gamecube version on the OoT/Master Quest disk. But that's what I heard, and I could be wrong. Gonna have to play through that one to confirm it.

So i guess the answer to my question is there are 3 different carts. The Gold One, A gray one WITH blood and chanting, and One with neither. I have the last one :( . I have been playing Master Quest and this just popped into my head. Now i want them all now.

Well honestly, when I look at the original screen shots of URA, then compare them to Master Quest...I say no. That's just my opinion.

I think Master Quest was remade from the ground up and just focusing on the dungeons.

While URA had different overworlds to explore on top of the new re-arranged dungeons.

Yet, Master Quest is pretty much URA, just cutting back all the ideas that could have been used in the vaporware 64DD game

I was just playing my gray cart copy of OOT recently, and I didn't get too far, but I noticed that It had the moon symbols on the blocks....I know I got it for christmas the year it was released, so Is it most likely the chanting & red blood version? I gotta get further and make sure.

Also, I remember hearing that there was also blood on the walls of the shadow temple that was removed in later versions as well. Can anyone confirm this?
