View Full Version : Do your arcades get much outside play?

I have this dream of hosting cook outs and parties and such, and having people love my arcades and what not.

But in all actuality, do outsiders play your cabinets? Do people come to your house whenever they can to play? Or are these something that only we can appreciate?

if someone is over that i think will like them, i show them, but i dont invite people to come over just to play, no one comes over just to play, and if i were having a large party i would not make them available for play

i work hard to keep them working and in as close to perfect condition that i can get them...i dont want anyone messing them up, even if im right there watching them

I have people over to play my games several times a week. Other people play them more than I do. Which is great, I'm glad people can enjoy them. It's worth it to me.

I will ocassionaly show people my arcade and let them play, but overall I'm very protective of it.

I've actually had people over and the whole idea was for me to show off my games and make them available for play. It was a lot of fun and a great way to make sure your games have no issues after being on for a few hours. All my games passed with flying colors. Only the hardcore gamers stayed into the wee hours of the night and the rest left earlier.

My MAME cab doesn't get more than 30 seconds downtime any time I have people over (which isn't often). My arcade cab isn't in a very accessible place and gets almost no play time (but it's kinda ugly, needs a lot of cosmetic work)

Now that my arcade has been stable for a couple of years, I've noticed a bit of decline in how much people play them. Usually, my South Park pin and mame cocktail stay busy whenever I have a party with Asteroids, Galaga, Warlords, and Ataxx being the next few in line. I'm sure once my Ms Pac and Multi Williams are back together, those will get a lot of play too.

But I've never been one to hoard games and not let anybody play them. To be honest, outside of a few specific games I play them a lot less than my friends do. I enjoy restoring them and keeping them running more than playing them for some reason!!

Wow, that's an interesting statement. Mine are all on the entire time if we have guests, be it just one friend or a large group. I love letting my friends play my games, and no one has ever treated them with anything other than the highest degree of respect.
