I've been picking up a LOT of PS2 games recently and I usually toss them in, play for an hour and unless they are really awesome, I'll shelve them so I can concentrate on whatever game I was already trying to get through - then play the newer games later...
But I could not pull myself away from Lego Star Wars last night. I've seen all the released movies and I dig them, but I am by no means a Star Wars-guy. The movies are cool and all, but I have never liked a star wars game - until this one.
Maybe it's the incredible cute-ness of the characters, the fluid and simply graphics, the excellent soundtrack and the very very very very very easy gameplay. That on top of the fact that I have been laughing all the way through every level.
Though if you have not seen the movies you will be confused, they re-do the scenes from the movies, but in VERY abridged format. The levels that I have played are long enough to be fun, but short enough to change it up and keep the action fresh with the new levels.
I didn't try it out, but it seems like tha game has 2 player simoultaneous action. But even if you play 1player, you can switch characters on the fly.
It's a whole hell-uva-lot 'o' fun.
My favorite part so far is in the Episode 1 Pod Racer level, the sand people (is that the right name?) jump out of the cracks and start shooting at the racers, just like in the movie. For some reason the sand people crack me up hardcore.
