Ok, I had this 2600 game sans label or identifying markings a couple of years ago. Gameplay went like this: You basically controlled a dot, like 4 pixels or something, and ran around the screen hopping into little rooms. Once in the room, the screen changed (to represent the room you were suddenly inside) and you had to run away from some monsters and collect something or other (IIRC the monster were big faces or something to that effect). It was a pretty simple game, even by 2600 standards. Very few colors used; black background, simple colored sprites (of course). Not a very stellar description, but there honestly wasn't much more to it than that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That's like hanging a curve to Barry Bonds.

Sniderman: venture
Captain Yashiro: Hey Sniderman, see if you can guess this one. You play-
Sniderman: halloween
Captain Yashiro: Dammit.
I love Venture. It's the main reason I'm hanging on to my Colecovision. (after I sold the first one anyway, heh) and said Snidleyman's 2600 sequel is damn good too, I'll pimp that any chance I get.

Tell me more about this sequel! (Pardon my ignorance Sniderman ...).

Here's a link for ya: http://www.packratvg.com/venture2.htm
I bought my copy at CGE 2k4, from the Packrat booth! Think of it like SMB: Lost Levels. More of the same Venture greatness.

Thanks for the kind words about V II, though to be honest, it's a hack of the original. Changed the room layouts, tweaked the monsters, and generally made it a more interesting game (I think), but it's not a wholly new game.
There's another interesting hack of 2600 Venture. The hacker actually managed to add Level *3* into the game! @_@ There's a thread at AA with the BIN available for play. Not sure if it's available on a cart though:
