View Full Version : NEED HELP! LA Issue: Sega Pak only giving 50% Sound

Here's hoping someone can help out.

Earlier I was playing my Laseractive w/ Sega Pak, and everything was going fine. Now, in the game "I Will", the Unit will play the sound effects of the car, and the background music, but not the voice over tracks. In "Hyperion", there's no sound at all.

- Just for the heck of it, I tossed in a Sega CD game and Sega Genesis cartridge, both work / sound fine.

- Stuck in a music CD, played fine.

- Stuck in a Laserdisc Movie, played fine.

Any ideas?

I'm going to move this over to the Technical and Restoration Society. Hopefully they can help.

Okay, after running the system through the paces, here's the theory: The Sega Pak is wonky for some reason.

The symptoms: The Laserdisc games will only play with half the sound. The other half is either not being played, or is EXTREMELY muffled. So much so that I had to crank my TV's volume to 100% to hear anything.

For example:
- I Will will play sound effects and BG Music, no voice overs.
- Hyperion - Sound effects, no music during FMV or game.
- Road Prosecutor No sound during the regular FMV clips, but full audio during the reverse FMV.

I performed the following tests, and all worked (sounded) perfectly:
- TG16 Pak LD and Regular Games
- LD Movies
- Sega CD/Genesis Cart games
- Music CDs

What is the Sega Pak using that the others aren't that would make it drop that part of the soundtrack? Any clues on what it is and how to fix it would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated =/
