It hasn't been fun, has it?
As you might have expected, the recent downtime and performance issues are due to the changes made in the phpBB software, particularly the various mods added to the code. When we're under 100 simultaneous users there's really no problem, but as we pass that number, the database hits critical mass and locks up until it's sufficiently free again.
It's NOT a bandwidth issue and it's not even a CPU issue. It's a database issue that people who know MYSQL well enough could probably manage in a heartbeat. Sadly, I am not that person, and our two tech admins retrogmr and SpasticFuctard are capable but not expert in this area, so the progress to correct this has been very slow.
I'm confident that we'll get things back to normal, but it may take some time. What I ask is that you continue to be patient with us and know that not a moment goes by where I don't concern myself with the ongoing community-building effort that the Retro Roundtable has become. It is like a child to me!
