For those who don't know, the OPCFG is Dire 51's astoundingly grand classic gaming website. Seven years ago on tax day, April 15th, the OPCFG was launched... that long, eh? For those who also don't know, I somehow got co-ownership of the website, so that's why I'm posting the announcement. I would have announced it yesterday, but... well, board errors and all. No big, so long as I got to say it.

Here's to ya, Dire, hoping for many more good years. Game the f**k on. :rocker:  :king:

You'd think that one of these days he'd get to smack around the Konami execs responsible for leaving all of those games in Japan. ;)

I popped in and out of that site more than a few times over the years. Not bad at all. Good work player! :D

Seconded. When I started buying Famicom games last year, one of the first games I bought was Holy Diver, based on what I had read on the OPCFG years ago. Suffice to say, I don't regret the decision. :)

Dire is grateful for everyone's support. :)

I just wish I could do a better job updating the site, but I'm somewhat dry on ideas nowadays.

Thanks a lot, everyone! Someday (very) soon, I hope, I'll be able to do some more work on the site and get it moved off of Geocities. It's gonna be an interesting time, but at least I'm about 90% prepared to make the switch.

Glad I've been able to provide you all with some great import suggestions and info and whatnot... and thanks to Joe for giving the site DP Affiliate status during the past year. :)

Special thanks to Mike - you've done a great job as my co-webmaster. :) Despite the fact that you've got other commitments to be taken care of, you've been able to keep up with the site in times that I haven't.

And Garrett... one day I plan to visit KoA and do some smacking. They deserve it, leaving games like Gradius Gaiden over in Japan while we get stuck with... what the hell was Konami releasing over here in '97 besides SotN? I don't remember. :embarrassed:

Ahhhhhh... I am honored, sir. :hail:

Such 'other commitments' include a big one (school), dealing with my offbeat family (at least, offbeat from my perspective, heh), trying to fit net time between excessive video game playing), and just general laziness spawning from my young age (which goes hand in hand with my low attention span). I really shouldn't have any excuses to pass the buck, but life hasn't been the easiest thing to deal with. Regardless, I am glad to work with Rob on one of the most awesome websites ever. That's a biased opinion, but... well... shut up! LOL

You do what you can when you can, and for that, I'm very appreciative. :)

I checked out the site last night and I am impressed. Other than a really wonkey Top 2600 game list, everything there was first rate. I enjoyed going through the Top 100 and man, when Dire likes a series, he really likes a series. That list was peppered with almost every Castlevania game known to man (not to mention Gradius, Ninja Gaiden, and some other series).

I love the OPCFG, but I'd really love to know what the hell that acronym stands for! Am I just missing it somewhere?

The (O)rganization for the (P)reservation of (C)lassic (F)orms of (G)aming. Put 'em all together, and that's OPCFG. :)

Morbis: Heh, he does have a slight tad of a Konami bias in his list, but what can I say, so do I. I'm also thinking of submitting my own Top 100 list, a project that is... not coming along wholly satisfactory. For one, I find it freaking hard to categorize my favorite of games, and then my opinions change over time. However, count on this: My list might look like it'll have a slight tad of a Nintendo bias. Heh... :embarrassed:

Thanks, Dr. Morbis. :) That 2600 list is, well, mostly nostalgic. I can't tell you how many hours I burned on all of those games when I was a kid.

And yeah, I have a tendency to find a series, really like it and stick to it like glue. LOL

Iron Draggon - hell, you could have just checked under the logo on the main page. That would have told you what OPCFG stands for. :)
