Looking for suggestions on how to best store marquees. The artwork on the "back" of most marquees is susceptible to scratching and other nastniess if not properly stored, so... how do you do it?

Do you place cardboard / newsprint / bubble wrap in between each marquee? Is that, as Colin Hay once wrote, overkill?

What's the optimal method of storage? Whether you're storing 5 or 50, what are your helpful hints? :)

I just wrap mine up in newspaper and store mine in the closet on the top shelf, until I get wall space.

the best way would be to store them in a 6" thick lead safe...individually

but, im assuming your looking for something a little more space and cost efficient

The best way to store and display them is on the arcade machine for which they were inteded. :) ;)

:D Agreed!

How about the second best way? LOL let's say you find a big lot of marquees for sale and have no machines to match them up with... is there a "great way" to store them while hunting the machine down? There might not be one that's any better than just throwing them in a closet or on a shelf, but if there is that would rule. :)

All of the marquees that I own that I don't own the matching machine for are displayed on the wall of my game room. :)

Arcade,

I use craft foam sheets from the dollar store, they're like, 4 for a buck, and they won't leave black ink like newspaper, they'll never scratch your marquees like cardboard might, and they're thin, like 1/8" maybe, so they don't hog a great deal of space.

They're standard 8x11 craft foam that come in all colors (similar to the contruction paper). You can really stack em any way you want, putting one sheet of foam between each marquee.

I recommend looking up a paper/cardboard wholesaler and buying a pile of blank newsprint that movers use for packing. You can store it rolled up (get 10 pounds of the it), and it is the ultimate for all your packing needs. Two sheets per marquee would reduce scratches and leave no residue.

Another consideration is a massive roll of cellophane that movers use.
