Awhile back (both here & AA) I posted a thread about whether Katamari Damacy was a system seller. Recently I've been "discussing" w/ that friend what defines a game glitch.

Is it something relatively minor & simple, which doesnt affect overall gameplay, such as (among other situations) a character's arm sinking into a nearby wall, or a bit of graphics blinking out of sight for a moment, then reappearing?

Or is it something major, a problem in a game which prevents you from further play (& could possibly require a "workaround" to pass) like a system lockup or corrupt saves/wipes?

Or is it something in-between, not so simple but not as extreme?

Thoughts/opinions, please...

What do YOU consider a game glitch?

Most of any Grand Theft Auto game.

When you see Buicks doing their best Stonehenge impression, that's never good.

Both are glitches. I understand a glitch as an unintentional programming error...

I'd consider something that PREVENTS gameplay to be a bug, and something that is unintentional to be a glitch (i.e. minus worlds in Super Mario Bros.

As others have posted...

Glitch = anything that can happen in a game that was not intended, graphic or gameplay-wise, that doesn't crash/stop the game.

Bug = whatever section of code that stops a game dead in its tracks.

...When you do something not like the programmers wanted you to do it, like hitting A and B together on the Mini-Game Select screen in Donkey Kong 64 to bring up a Test Level, ect.

When a company decides to ship something that isn't buttoned up yet and the gaming public discovers that they've been nominated as the guinea pigs.

*cough Halo 2 cough* This game defines the word "glitch".
