There has been alot of great budget titles coming out for the as of late, and I had to do a post on what the gamers at this site were currently playing or buying on the Xbox that was a budget title. I am currently playing Obscure and I think it rocks! I also bought Combat task force 121. Not bad titles, if you ask me. What else are people playing that came out at $20 recently?

Off of the top of my head I can think of 3 older mainstream titles, but great for the 20 dollar price tag.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance -- The framerate bogs down when you're out in the rain on the ship...but hell...we should have all flown past that part a million times by now on the PS2 version ;P. I picked it up for the VR Missions rather than the main game anyways. So far I am very happy with it.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams -- I treasure this disc. The presentation is better than the PS2 version and the game, by itself, is a beautiful piece of work. It is one of the few successful attempts at surrealism that I have seen in the current generation.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 -- If I could get one wish granted by EA, it would be a special edition of this game with Live enabled. I can dig underground, but I love Hot Pursuit 2.

Like I said...no "Buried Treasures" in the list (hell...2 of them are re-released PS2 games). Just some 20 dollar X-Box titles I happen to love. =)

Spy Vs. Spy! See the other thread about it! If you want multiplayer / Live! fun, then this is where to spend your $20. Good luck finding it right now, hopefully there will be more in the upcoming months....

Here is the thread! http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57364

Note PS2 users, the PS2 version has been delayed until late May.

One of the better $19.99 XBox titles I've bought this year (last week to be precise) would be "Special Forces: Nemesis Strike".

This game is just so cool and fun. It's got two of my favorite characters from the "CT Special Forces" games for the GBA and the best part is that they expand their universe in this game.

No more of the 'Metal Slug' styled characters, they all look comparable to human beings!

Another great title I picked up at the beginning of the year was "Tron 2.0". As a big fan of the Tron movie, I was thrilled to find out that they had finally released the XBox version.

The article is a little old (June of last year), but IGN did a feature on what they feel are the top 10 Platinum Hits games. Near the end of the article, they have a list of all the PH. Again, it's not up to date though:

Wait a sec...I just reread your post, and I realized something. Are you just asking for games that were released at a budget price, or also for games that used to be more expensive but have been discounted?

I was mostly talking about titles that were recently released onlaunch date at $20. I know that value titles have been released in the past, but with the market being so saturated right now, it seems that excellent games are getting budget released in order to spark interest in them. With releases like this, I feel it is going to be very hard for the general public to embrace $60 next gen price tags.

well, definitely grab phantom dust and raze's hell if you haven't (well, raze isn't in store 'til the 25th, so you'll have to wait a bit)- both games are bargains for the amount of gameplay. also, i thought ford racing 2 was a bit of fun when it was released a few years back. it's no project gotham, but the game runs at 60fps, looks decent and you can play your custom soundtracks during gameplay...

I second geelw on Phantom Dust and Dai Senryaku VII is $14.99 new right now at EB. Steer clear of Tork: Prehistoric Punk, though, if you value your sanity...

I would also recommend Phantom Dust, great game.

Also Kingdom Underfire The Crusaders has been 20 bucks for awhile, it's a really great hack-n-slash rpg.

Sudeki is a pretty fun game for $15 at EB.

And Worms Forts under Siege is not bad if you enjoy the worms games.

Scaler - sure it's pretty sort and easy by the 'grinding' on the vines sections imho play better then the same thing in the Sonic Adventure games I really hope this game get a longer sequal.

How about ~$10 Xbox games?

Breakdown, Deus Ex, and Chronicles of Riddick all excellent titles that are Xbox console exclusive titles.

Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space is also $20 (EBGames has 'em marked at like $39 but online it shows $20).

Ultra Bust A Move is another $20 title.

X_x Where can I find Chronicles of Riddick for ~$10?

Also, for anyone looking for XBox MGS: Substance, it can be had NEW at GameRush for $9.99. If you can find it, that is.

I'll second that Ultra Bust a Move - an excellent choice and great vs. game.

I also got Myst IV a couple weeks back - seems interesting (started playing Cold Fear at the same time so I did not put much time in Myst yet) but the game was obviously designed for mouse control (vs. controller) and it has crashed on me a few times for some reasons.

I picked up Myst IV with my Phantom Dust rebate from EB. I loved the first one "back in the day," so I was intrigued at the $20 price tag. It really reminds me of the FMV games from the early 90's--live actors interspersed with the computer generated world. The presentation so far looks pretty cool.

The first puzzle drove me nuts though. I was supposed to "tune" to a certain frequency, and even though I was right on, the stupid game kept telling me to adjust knobs. Ugh. I spent twenty minutes listening to "Try the slide" over and over until it let me go on.

I ordered Spy vs Spy and Obscure online, so I can't wait to try those. Raze's Hell looks like my kind of game too. I also want to get Chessmaster, but I'm not sure when I'd have time to play it with all of these other budget titles I want! All can be had for $20 or less. Awesome deals.

I kinda liked Narc. for $20.00 it's a good game. now don't get me wrong i woudn't pay full price for it but for 20 bucks i can't complain. plus getting to play the original Narc game, if you don't have midway arcade 2 I think it's worth a try.

For racing fans, Corvette is a pretty decent racer with a deep career mode and retails for $9.99 at most stores. I also liked Dakar 2: The World's Ultimate Rally, where you can progress through the game with your choice of a motorcycle, rally trucks/SUVs, or those huge rally trucks. It's a little too short, though.

If you're looking for a cheap bowling game, Strike Force Bowling should be right up your alley (pun intended LOL ). Stay away from AMF Bowling, though.

Yeah, I've been playing this one as well (PS2 version). While nothing earth-shattering it's an ejoyable budget platformer and I wouldn't mind a sequel either.
