View Full Version : If only one title per console could exist....

The world is ending, and they are preparing the rocket to the best possible new planet. However they decide that only one person (game) from each country (console) can board the ship, so that it will be a fresh start without the need for everyone to be divided on the new planet. you have been chosen by lottery to decide who may live on and pioneer the new world.

Basically, if only ONE game per system could continue existing, what do you think it should be? What was the absolute pinnacle of that console's art? I'm just starting this thread for kicks, but if someone wants to tally everything up later, feel free. I personally am only gonna respond with consoles I personally own. I'm also counting add-ons as seperate consoles. I left out my DS since there aren't many games yet, and my Vextrex since I don't own many.

NES - Startropics
SNES - Robotrek
Genesis - Gunstar Heroes
Sega Cd - coinflip between Space Adventure Cobra or Snatcher, leaning towards Cobra
32X - Knuckles Chaotix
Saturn - ehh...NiGHTS I guess
N64 - Mischeif Makers
Dreamcast - Shenmue
Xbox - Toejam and Earl III
Cube - Super Smash Bros Melee
Ps2 - dunno...Probably a Shin Megami Tensei game or the Sega Ages collection to cheat and save many
Gameboy - Tetris, it's gotta make it somehow
Gameboy Color - Pokemon Crystal
Gameboy Advance - Warioware
Neo Geo Pocket Color - Cardfighter, personally i say capcom side

List for my consoles;

NES....Dragon Warrior
Genny....Shining Force
PSX....Gran Turismo 2
PS2....Final Fantasy 10
DC....Shenmue
Cube....Pikmin
Xbox....Doom 3
N64....Ocarina Of Time

The only reason that I picked Doom 3 for Xbox is that it's an incredibly well done port and I'm playing it right now. There isn't really anything on the Xbox that is overly above anything else on the system.

List for my consoles:

SNES: Yoshi's Island
N64: Majora's Mask or Ogre Battle 64
GameCube: Ikaruga
Dreamcast: Guilty Gear X
TurboGrafx16: a toss up between Blazing Lazers, Super Star Soldier, or Somer Assault

Because to me it would take me an enternity to beat either Majora's Mask or Ogre Battle

I guess if I have 15 consoles, I can't just keep one console and 15 games for it, eh? The problem with this is I love my baseball games but no baseball game is generally considered the absolute best for any one system. So my choices including only consoles and games I actually own...

Atari 2600--Adventure
Atari 5200--Miner 2049er
Atari Lynx--Klax
Atari Jaguar--Tempest 2000 (Pretty close call, though, between this and Alien Vs. Predator)
ColecoVision--Donkey Kong
Super Nintendo--Super Metroid
Nintendo 64--Super Mario 64
Nintendo GameCube--MVP Baseball 2005 (okay, sue me, I gotta have my baseball!)
Sega Genesis--Zombies Ate My Neighbors (maybe not the pinnacle but a damn fun game)
Sega Saturn--Nights Into Dreams
Sega Dreamcast--Soul Calibur
Sony Playstation--Crash Bandicoot: Warped!
Sony Playstation 2--Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Xbox--Halo

2600: Frogs n' Flies. Fuck Pitfall, it's been done since and better. Space Invaders? Who cares about that shit? Frogs n' Flies is a bitching one player game, and a b0zz 2P game. A close runner up would be Fishing Derby.

Intellivision: Scratching my head over this one. Never much of an Inty fan.

Colecovision: Maybe Donkey Kong? I dunno, don't care for that game much, and can't really remember anything else for it.

NES: WHAT a tricky decision. I guess in the end it's all about replay value, so that eliminates Tecmo Super Bowl, Mario 3, and the Megamans from the running. I'd kinda like a side scroller of some sort. Maybe Clash at Demonhead?

SNES: Uncharted Waters: New Horizons. Without a doubt.

[skipping a few systems that I never played]

DreamCast: Either Capcom vs. SNK 2 or PowerStone: 2... or NESterDC with a nice healthy ROMset ;)

PS2: hmmm... without having played it, I'd say my vote'd be for GTA:SA. Of the games I've played, either SSX: Tricky or THPS4.

C64: Alter Ego!
PC: Civilization II, Sim City 4000, or Half Life with all the add-ons and net play.
Macintosh: Heh heh... umm.... Macintosh has games? Maybe iPod iDeluxe iAlpha iII?

Man, this is hard to narrow down to just one per system. Three per system would be easy, but just one???

NES - 1943 - (One of the best Shumps of all time!)
Master System - The New Zealand Story (Hours of fun!)

Mega Drive - Micro Machines II Turbo Tournament
32x - Knuckles Chaotix - (The best of a bad bunch. Not much of a selection for 32x)
Mega Cd - Puggsy Cd - (The Mega Drive one is great. This is greater!)
Snes - Super Mario RPG - (Excellent RPG - Wish it got a PAL release)

PSone - Final Fantasy VII - (The. Greatest game. Ever. Nuff said!)
N64 - Conker's Bad Fur Day - (And this must be the second greatest game ever in that case)
Saturn - Resident Evil - (I had to include Resident Evil somewhere!)

DreamCast - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater II (My most played game of all time!)
PS2 - Grandia II - (If it wasn't for Tony Hawk, this would be above)
Xbox - Steel Battalion - (This game is simply amazing, and is so far ahead of it's time!)
GameCube - Super Smash Bros. Melee - (You just keep going back for more!)

GameBoy - Zelda: Link's Awakening - (The best GameBoy game in the world!)
GameBoy Color - Pokemon Crystal - (The best of the whole Pokemon franchise)
GameBoy Advance - Zelda: Minish Cap - (Graphics = Amazing. And gameplay is all there!)

Atari 2600 - Millipede - (The only 2600 game to keep me glued for more than 5 minutes)
Jaguar - Doom - (Not as good as the PSone version, but there was no way I was going to leave FFVII from that category!)

Ngage - Super Monkey Ball - (The only Ngage game i've played which doesn't look too shabby)

Man, this is hard to narrow down to just one per system. Three per system would be easy, but just one???

NES - 1943 - (One of the best Shumps of all time!)
I must protest! Also at your using of dark red. You do know many of us use the regular DP scheme, right?

But anyhow, if Japanese people have anything to say about this, the NES game to take along would be Legendary Wings, make no mistake LOL
