hey sorry to say this but I now publically quit. I am no longer able to afford my collecting of classic games and they only sit collecting dust:(:(:( I have sold my collection and am now taking up an apprenticeship with the pipefitters union. I will still post from time to time to update on how it goes.

There's a local collector around here who decided to pack it in recently......to collect authentic designer jeans instead. I'm not kidding. He just let his substantial NA Dreamcast collection go in order to finance a pair of jeans from a Japanese designer....and I was there to grab up all the sealed and hard to find stuff.

O_O Gave up games to collect jeans ? Tell me, along with buying all of this guy's sealed Dreamcast stuff, how much did he want in exchange for his soul :hmm: ?

Well, good luck to you in your apprenticeship. Besides, once you start making the big bucks as a pipefitter (In plumbing or a related field, I'm guessing?), you'll probably get back into collecting. ;)
Until then, do what you feel to be important.
Hard work = Money
Money = ability to buy Game collections
Game collections = happiness
Happiness = Your well being :)
I think you'll return when you're ready. Not to worry. I'm sure the DP Forums will be around when you do.
Take care.

I didn't know you, but I still wish you all the best. Though, I don't see why you can't make this change and still collect. And I don't agree with games just collecting dust, they collect minty air goodness too!

My first comment to people who bail out of the collecting hobby is "I'm interested in buying your collection".
I am, after all, Classicus Carnivorous.
I do hope you'll stick around though. You never know when the bug will bite you again! Game ON.

And my first reaction is the same thing I tell people in MMORPGS....
"Can I have yer stuff?"

my wife used to work part time for a vintage clothing dealer, jean collecting is no joke! that guy bought his house selling vintage levis and later basketball shoes to the insane japanese retro market.

He'll be back. Remember when Anthony1 did this last year because he got a modded Xbox? No he's raving in threads about PC Engine games. :D
Work hard, hope to see you back soon!

Just the thought of selling my games gives me the greebies...the thought of buying your games would have made me happy.

I can remember the times where I said "I quit" when it came to collecting or "I quite playing (classic or modern) because of (insert lame excuse here)". Heck, not long ago I told my wife I was thinking about only collecting what was from my childhood (specific titles, stuff I lost/stupidly sold/got damaged etc.) and I snagged up a bunch of 2600 carts-many I never had before.
Hopefully all well go well with your apprenticeship.
